It was well written, but between the lines it was the usual Leeds shite about why Leeds is a far better club for White to be at than Brighton and assumption that we'll sell him for 25m.

I am sorry to say I think you are right. Superior writing style, same old rhetoric.

Interesting and fair summary from HeadLiner.

Our management have a big decision to make here.
Personally I don't subscribe to this theory many are expressing that you have to keep every player.
We're well stocked at CB and his value might never be higher than it is now - look at Mings and Webster, they don't look as good in the Prem. To say we don't need to sell is nonsense, we lost £21m last year and predicted to be more this year. If White stays someone else will have to go anyway to make space in the squad. That boost to the budget could be better spent elsewhere, that's how football works.

Quite a substantial difference between Webster and Ben White, ones a Champion and has bigger clubs sniffing around, plus Southgate touting a call up.

So you think strengthening a rival is a good idea?

And where would we spend this £20m windfall. Could we get a premium up and coming English talent for that price? Oh wait.

Brighton factually.....

Yeah typical football fan then, I think we are giving Leeds far to much time at the moment on this board, yes they want to sign Ben White, who would not.
Yes they have just been promoted and the media are all over them, as we all know come a cold November night away at Burnley getting thumped 4-0, the reality will set in, it is going to be long hard struggle.

We may have been very different in our expectations when we were promoted aiming at just survival, a lot of that has to do with our history and constant fight for survival to stay in business never mind stay in the league. Sheffield Wednesday and other massive clubs like them Leeds, do have a history that is rich in tradition of cup finals and trophies, which they obviously want again, when they hear grandad banging on about the past, they want that. We on the other hand, should be grateful to just be here in the Premier League #TeamslikeBrighton

This is not a Gareth Barry scenario, we will not be fecked over this time.

If White really is that good - his level is higher than Leeds or Brighton. Makes more sense for him to stay at Brighton on a new bigger contract, play well and get a 'dream move' to a top 6 club in a year or 2.

Tony Bloom does not have to sell. Potter wants him in the squad and he has 2 years on a deal with us left. Even if he rejects a new deal we still get a season out of him

Schelotto will be off the wage bill and almost certainly so will Kayal. That is before we even consider Duffy moving on.

That should give us a bit of leeway to offer White a good deal without increasing the overall outlay.

As white has < 2 years on this contract, I think the main thing is for him to sign a new one else, like it or not, he can hold the club to ransom to a certain degree but if he does move on, I'd think he'd end up at a top 6 club or an Everton type team who splash the cash about. He isn't going to go to Leeds.

I find it almost laughable Leeds fans are pointing out he is a ball playing CB as if it's some sort of revelation. What's more likely, We planned to send him on loan to a team suited to his strengths and would help him develop or he turned up a Leeds as a Row Z defender and Bielsa developed him into a modern day Paolo Maldini? If you look at the research that has gone into the AMEX and training ground it is quite clear we do things properly (we are probably the most well run club in the country) and i'm sure there is a great deal of thought into where players going on loan and what's best for us and them. The no loan to buy clause is further evidence. He's not a Stephen Ward or Wayne Bridge who is surplus to requirements at the parent club, we sent him on loan to get better and he has done.

Leeds fans are like Dr Evil in the first Austin Powers who wants to hold the world to ransom for a million quid. £20 million quid gets you a part team DJ and a player who barely runs about in 2020.

But, Leeds play a very aggressive attacking game and limit the chances the opposition have. The whole team defends so the defence doesn't have to. It has been clear that set pieces are our weakness and that we simply cannot score from them or defend them well. What did we do to counteract that? Stop giving away corners in particular. You would have to question, as a key component of that defence, White's aerial ability. He has decent height but a slender build. You also have the issue of his lack of PL experience. Potential is one thing but plenty have failed to step up.

He plays in a well drilled unit at Leeds, and suits a team to a tee that wants to attack. Bielsa has always shown he is prepared to gamble in any situation that could lead to an opposition opportunity or one for us. As such, risky one touch passing in defence and quick counter attacking are part of his game plan. His valuation needs to bare that in mind. A team that doesn't play that way may not suit White and he may not suit them i.e. a team looking to defend or play a defensive game.

Do you remember a couple of seasons ago, when the mighty Leeds United got embarrassed by League Two Newport? How a skinny kid at the centre of their defence controlled his area of the pitch, in a game against 'superior' players?

And then after seeing you off, went and man-marked Harry Kane in the next round?

I think in fairness most football fans, don't get it do we....

We all look through rose tinted spectacles at our own interests, we have some pretty deluded fans. I thought it was a well rounded post to be honest,
He's being nice but it's still a complete crock of shit. We have them over a barrel? How? The only fact that matters is that he is our player, not theirs, and we only lent him to Leeds for a season. I very much doubt we will sell him to them. We don't need to sell him, and if we did want to cash in we wouldn't sell him to a club clearly competing to avoid relegation with us. In fact, we actually may need to keep him if one of our proven Premier league centre-halves departs this summer.

Leeds fans don't appear to realise what changes there have been since they were last at the top table. First and foremost, we're not really a particularly small club anymore - our average gates this season are higher than Leeds' average gates were when they were last league champions in 1992 and we have a season ticket waiting list of 7,000. Secondly, match day income is now dwarfed by television money, and we've had 3 seasons of it now. The fact there are more Leeds fans than Brighton fans is just noise.

So now we are in agreement that he will not be joining Leeds, what will Graham Potter decide to do with him?

Play him as a centre half in a back 4?

In the centre of a back 3?

As a defensive midfielder?

As a left back?

Personally, I'd like to see him in a back 3 with the license to maraude when possible.

Leeds are a nasty club, with horrible fans and really not worth the amount of time ppl are giving them.
I do not pretend to know a lot about White but i would like to see him perform for Brighton next season. If he’s as good as some ppl say no doubt a top six club or Dortmund will make an offer. If not hopefully he will sign a new contract and spend a great career with us, at the Amex.

All of the above and more - he offers a lot of options and that is premium for Potter

Bloody hell, a sensible non deluded Leeds fan. Think you are spot on. We do hold all the keys to this, we basically can't lose, we either keep him as he is on contract or sell him to whoever can afford him. Think we will increase his contract and he will stay and as you say, he may not make it as a top player, but Bloom is a risk taker and maybe a year a 2 in the premier, then maybe worth a lot more (Ake worth 35 million? Really?). Congrats on your promotion by the way.

No, he isn’t. Just a major change of tone after making a fool of himself. Since promotion to the PL three years ago I have noticed a major decline in the number of away fans parading their insecurities on NSC. It’s a lower league thing really hence the current infestation.

No we don't, there is now no waiting list. It was completely exhausted this year with 19/20 members with very little loyalty points given a short window to purchase.
Is that right ?

I thought it was just that most on the waiting list decided to use their permitted 1 year ticket decline because of Covid economic worries.

Does anyone remember what Venables' England side did with Ince? They played four at the back and Ince could drop in as a Centre back to create a three which allowed wing backs to bomb on - Neville had real attacking licence to get forward. It also meant Ince could slip into DM to snuff out danger or build through the centre creating an extra man when needed. This was when he played in Italy, at the peak of his powers - he was one hell of a midfielder. It was ince that won a penalty vs Holland on that memorable 4-1 win. Could White offer that?

Sorry this is off topic now, boo dirty Leeds.

The club opened it up for all members even those not on the waiting list had a chance to buy, there were not enough new ST sales from people solely on the list.

People deferring will still be in the queue
I expect, like my old Dad's account, and should be invited to buy next season but if they pass up again then this isn't a waiting list as such is it? The list was exhausted this year with everyone on it given the chance to buy.

Yes, because of Covid.
