I am treating all people I meet as I find them. I think that's enough. I teach my child to do the same. I think that America has the massive problem of the hangover of slavery also they are generally more likely to own and use guns.. I don't think their race problems mirror ours in the UK. Theirs is a way more divisive society and that is sad.

This latest incident is horrendous and one of the most telling quotes in all this from Martin Luther King's oldest son, who states nothing has changed since his father was gunned down 52 years ago.

I did listen to Lara Woods on Talk Sport Breakfast the other day, and she was going on about 'White Privileged' and the phrase meaning that as white people the world over we've never been discriminated against because of the colour of our skin.

I'm not sure the former white farmers in Rhodesia would agree with that?

Only today on R5 there was report of a discussion among middle class women in England somewhere, one of whom was black. They were celebrating their inclusivity and one of them mentioned how she never thought about colour. The black woman said 'that's because you never have to'.

The Rhodesian farmers were chucked out because Mugabi thought he'd bolster his support by 'giving' land to his tribesmen. Most of the land was owned by whites so most of the stolen land was stolen from whites. If you think this kills stone dead any wider notion of white privilage, you need to give your head a wobble.

There is so much about the George Floyd story that is sad, but the most dangerous aspect of it is with Trump himself..

Trump has reacted by thinking only of himself and his re-election hopes. It's all about law and order, being god-fearing and playing on racial fears. He is gambling that this stance will still resonate with those that voted for him before.

It is sad to see absolutely no progress on key issues like endemic racism, gun crime, religious tolerance, climate change, foreign policy and world peace. Can the world survive another 4 years of Trump? To me the guy is unhinged and if he continues to lose control it is not beyond him to start a war to change the dynamic.

You might want to called it ''Abolition'' but every slave owner in the UK who owned a slave had to be paid, and paid handsomely they were by the British Government for those slaves to be set free.

And what did many of them do with their money ?

They bought sugar Plantations in the US and the West Indies where they owned even more slaves and made even more money Exporting Sugar back to the UK.

I applaud that Yorkshireman for what he did - But he failed to change hearts and minds and that is what is needed if you are to eradicate Racism.

Please fact check the following: The Chief of Police is a Democrat, the Mayor, Governor and Attorney General are Democrats too. George Floyd's death happened under the Democratic authority and at the hands of their police.

It is ironic that the Democrats are now fanning the flames for rioting in the US and globally, when this awful event happened under their own jurisdiction. and that George Floyd is now being used as a mascot for their own political gain in the next election.

I wasn't dismissive of what he did and achieved - I applauded him for it in my post. But essentially the freedom of the slaves was bought.

Look I’m not going to take it further. I’ll admit it was OTT against your directly, but it’s more what I’m seeing across the board today. Black Lives Matter is about equality, they feel their lives are dispensable, irrelevant.... It’s not about them wanting more power, it’s not about them wanting to kill whitey..... it’s about feeling, and being equal....

That is something that is paramount in today’s society, they should be very proud of what they are doing black & white.

I am incredibly proud of my Viking, Germanic, Norman heritage, and yes we were slaves, subdued, and downcast through periods of history by other tribes, Romans, whoever. Every race and creed has been subjected to tyranny of varying degrees, it’s not about point scoring, it’s about a modern fair society.
We have in recent times seen rich white people take advantage of the lower classes, first through the abhorrent slave trade, when that was deemed not acceptable, they moved on to something closer to home, the poor and children, being made to work literally as slaves in the mills and factories.
The working classes have so much in common with Black history and other ethnic people’s throughout the world, and they don’t even know it, many sadly poorly educated, many living in poverty, many prayed upon by criminal elements, many indoctrinated with race or religious hatred.
What I’m trying to say is it’s not the working class or traditional flag waving patriot that are the problem, Many with reason, can see the unfairness of life for everyone and be educated.
It is the rich elite, afraid their power is slipping... White politicians in America realising that in a decade, they won’t get enough votes, because the demographics are changing. Divide & Rule...
