CP’s owners always deliver in player spending, they’re mid table for wages spend, they’re not afraid to spend big in fees (some duffers ... most clubs do too), they pay ‘game changers’ big money, with some quality loanees over recent years. That investment gives them mid table PL status, there is no miracle.

TB has tried to be cute on PL wages, refusing to pay more than our purported wages ceiling of £60k a week, ruling out sought after players from the PL/Championship. Whilst CP, West Ham etc gazump others. Our £200m spend on transfer fees includes flops and quite a few players where the jury’s out. All in all, giving rise to three years of relegation battles, our PL status is on a knife edge, yet again.

But in fairness they have had to sell their best asset to balance the books.
Revenue next season will be down considerably and with no AWB sale to appease FFP, they could struggle.

We’ve been hoping for that since August 2013, but they kept doing Houdini acts, often by spending in January and/or taking game-changer on loan.

Which you have to say, regrettably, is a far more successful policy than ours. Maybe time will change that but atm Palace (although losing in our head to heads:lolol:) are far more an established Premier league club than ourselves. (That was so hard to admit)

It’s the story of the PL.

Of course there are exceptions such as Fulham 2018/19 and annual variation below and above ‘the line’, but there’s a strong positive correlation between annual club wages spend and final league position.

That hairdo of his must cost a few quid.

I should imagine 6 or 7 quid, at least...

Indeed. The model is to spend ALL the money on wages and hopefully sell a player for tons of cash every year

Not sure how long that's sustainable for.

Aside from that, they need investment in the form of cash (not a credit note from Man United). Disney doesn't have it, the yanks want out. Someone will have to step in.

I for one wouldn't trade Palace's position for ours. We have state of the art facilities, a committed owner, a squad with a number of promising youth players coming through. They have an expensive squad with the 2nd oldest average age, owners looking to cash out, FFP issues, a ground and training facility in urgent need of renovation. I think the only thing they have over us is the best player in either squad. He wants out and in a softening market they will struggle to get the sort of fee they would need to meet their FFP obligations and upgrade their squad. If we are relegated it will set us back, but if not, I think we will surpass them in the league and they will be the ones looking over their shoulders at the trapdoor unless they can get new investment.

We appear to be working to a plan. I don't see much sign of one at their end. Time will tell of course.

I tried to commission him to do PAID media work a decade or so ago, and he made it quite clear he didn't need the money. :lolol:

Did he used to live in Brighton? He seems to 'follow' us as well as Arsenal.

He might have been at school/college in Brighton. He and I both attended a gig by The Members at the Top Rank in 1979 and is a big punk/New Wave fan.

That £3 million is the rent for our soho offices. I’m certain Kieron knows this but it pops up every year

That’s incorrect. The employment cost is £3m and on top of that he charged £156k for rent in Soho & £123k for other services.

Short version

Revenue up 3% (and higher than the Albion)
Wages up 2% (and higher than the Albion)
Operating losses £36 million (and higher than the Albion)
Sale of Wan-Bissaka at end of season reversed the losses but no cash received at sale date
Steve Parish employment cost £3m (higher than the Albion)
Squad cost £208m (higher than the Albion).
Net debt £71m (lower than the Albion)

Overall their numbers reflect six years of being in PL compared to our two. Risky strategy in terms of some players on £130k a week but it has worked to date.

Long version is here

I'm not sure how long you've been doing your job.
But how much has football accountancy changed from the old Div1 days to the PL.
I can hazard a guess that today, its more like 'now you see it, now you don't ' (that is the money).

Oldham spent 6 years straight in the top flight. Neither them, ourselves nor Palarse were or are 'established'. Wet sham aren't established. Newcastle aren't established. Luxury Villa aren't established. Leeds aren't established. More history than us and Palace doesn't meen established.

The main thing is potential and trajectory and bouncebackability. I think we are pretty even to be fair. One thing we have over them may be bouncebackability (if either of us drop out of the EPL's windy bottom). But they are a London Club, however. ???

He’s very much the Guv’nor as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve done 350 media interviews/articles etc so far this year and have been paid for four of them. Think the media don’t rate me enough to pay me (and who can blame them).

Why don't you charge a fee? Thats a lot of work to do for nothing, it must take time to prepare for an interview.
