Regardless of the rights or wrongs of Bercow's decision, what conceivable good would giving May another 21 days do? Regardless of one's position: she is a busted flush.

It's clearly the position of the government to put pressure on MP's to say what they are for rather than what they are against. The nearer to the deadline we get the more they need to stop posturing and face up to the choices. No matter the rights and wrong's of this tactic it's not the job of the speaker to help thwart the governments position and go against parliamentary procedure. Also from what I have read both the EU and the UK government who have put much time and effort in obviously want to make the deal work. The EU, in particular, didn't want to make any new conssessions until a vote had taken place. After the inevitable defeat in a first vote the EU and the UK government will need time to work out if saving their deal is possible and if yes then what is needed to make it work. I doubt three days would be enough to come to a new agreement whereas up to 21 days would.

Returning the question .. What conceivable good is getting everyone to vote again after just three days?

John Bercow accepted his apology end of.

End of what? Just pointing out that his behaviour seems to mirror the behaviour of his acolytes outside parliament. No need to be so defensive.... I am sure there will be a lot more of this stuff coming along soon! We expect it!

Labour to pledge to extend A50, tomorrow.

I assume they've spoken to the EU ? As it requires the agreement of all other 27 EU members it would be a rather pointless pledge if they haven't spoken to the EU.

Not sure what your point is?

He is duty bound to act with impartiality in the house.

He doesn't have to BE impartial. He is allowed an opinion as much as anyone else.

I'm sure Remainers would be as dismissive if there were F*** the EU stickers/I voted leave on the car and he went against parliamentary procedure granting Mogg/Bone/Redwood amendments ...

Unless you are saying you genuinely believe this country wants socialism, I'm confused as to which bit you disagree with. My entire point was that they are out of step with the public.

When you question people on policies without assigning them to parties, it seems they do. I think if we don't find an alternative to Neo liberalism we are in an ever deepening mire. Labour offers one, perhaps some others should try. One - nation Conservatism, anyone?

That might be true if I/they believed that the EU were going to compromise but I/they don't

Sorry to quote my own post but just listen to the way Bercow handled this.

Because - without getting into an argument over their brand of socialism for which there is clearly absolutely no appetite for in this country - the Labour party have misjudged the mood of the nation entirely. They are more concerned with demonstrating Tory incompetence for their own ends (calling a GE) than for the good of the country. It's nothing more than a power grab exercise for Labour.

If that wasn't the case, they'd have spent the last 12 months calling for a national unity Brexit cabinet or proposing clear, genuine Brexit alternatives (different red lines or perhaps a second referendum). But no, all they want is another go at being elected. They are as much a disgrace as the Tories.

You are out of touch, there is an appetite in this country for old school socialism.

There’s an appetite for regulating the labour market, keeping tbe NHS in the public sector, building houses for the poor and managing the economy equitably so that Amazon, Google etc do not collectively pay less tax to the Treasury than Iceland (the food retailer) pays in council taxes for its estate.

You Tories are obsessed with the intrests of private sector businesses, thst is the tail wagging the dog.

I believe they will if they think it would get the deal through parliament. But back to the question .. What conceivable good is getting everyone to vote again after just three days?

I guess then they'll be done with no deal and May's deal, they will then support the government in a no confidence motion and, bingo, we get move on to "the People's Vote".. which Im guessing is the best "result" that Centerists can hope for.

Funny how Footy Genius rocked on up back on this thread after today's Grieve amendment. He pulled off that Times editorial from nearly 3 years ago faster than the fastest algorithm by any FSB programmer in Moscow too.

It's almost as if someone sent him into bat, or rather brought him on for some spin to tie down an end.

FSB are pussies ... #teamGRU

Ah the old "you Tories" again, your favourite brand of insult to anyone who is blatantly not a Tory but doesn't agree with you.

You're talking bollocks of course. Corbyn's Labour couldn't even get in when the shambles that is the Tory party called a GE last time round and didn't even bother campaigning.

You're just ignoring the facts again because YOU want Corbyn in.

WRONG. You might want to learn the difference between the word 'Extend' and the word 'Revoke' ...... otherwise you might look slightly silly like you do with reading graphs

??

“EU top lawyer: UK can unilaterally withdraw Article 50
The European Court of Justice’s advocate general says the UK does not need approval of other EU countries to withdraw from Brexit.

“The top lawyer rejected the argument put forward by the European Commission and Council that Article 50 only allows a country to revoke its notification in the event of a unanimous decision of the European Council.”

Seems pretty clear to me. Did you read the article? otherwise you might look slightly silly like you do with stating the government will introduce mobile phone legislation to maintain free roaming, and then posting a link to back up your post but which actually states the opposite.
