Heineken is the best of the lagers but that isn't saying much.

I'd stick to the Pale Ales which mask the odd after taste.

It's only when drinking or trying to drink nons that I realise how much I like the alcohol kick, I prefer coke (cola) so my brain doesn't expect anything like beer and then be grumpy.

What on earth is non alcoholic beer? An alcoholic beer with no alcohol? Is that like calling a square a circle?

Drinking non-alcoholic beer is the same as licking out your sister.

Even if it tastes the same as normal, it’s still not right.

Non Alcoholic beer???
What's the point of this?

To meet the demands of people who like the taste of beer, but who don't take alcohol (for whatever reason)?

Non alcoholic beer is a God send when I am driving.

No more oceans of coke or orange juice for me

I think, when groups of patrons are involved, that the designated driver should be supplied with free non alcoholic beer by the establishments for getting everyone else to the pub and back safely.

I had some of that Erdinger a few weeks ago (I met a mate in a pub just before I was due to play football, so didn't want any booze): I was pretty impressed.

I was in The Great Eastern, so there's at least one pub in B&H that sells it

In Germany all the major brands of beer have an alkoholfrei version. If you go to the supermarket there will typically be a large section where you’ll find them all, and identifiable by blue added to the label.

I stopped drinking a while ago but i'm still keen on non alcoholic beers, Most aren't great especially the 00 lager ones (thats you Heineken, Becks, Budweiser).

But i've 3 favourites.

Nanny State - Brewdog
Remarkable citrus ale. Full of flavour
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/295411206

Ghost Ship - Adnams
Maybe the best ale i've found.
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/301885125

AlkoholFrei - Erdinger
The Germans know best

A couple of gripes - most pubs are terrible. They don't offer a choice or sometimes forget they stock them.
And i'm not the first to say it but hardly any are 500cl.

Any other recommendations ? And any pubs that do the right thing and stock a decent range ?

Why? Beer doesn’t taste very nice , If it didn’t get you pissed nobody would drink it. So many nicer alternatives than fake beer.

When I have the odd 'cleanse' I drink Becks Blue. It's the only one that doesn't taste like cardboard soaked in piss in my opinion...

I've tried loads of these alcohol free beers and end up tipping most of them down the sink as they're undrinkable. I suppose if you have enough the taste becomes normal, though.. (like Diet Coke etc after you've been drinking the 'full-fat' stuff..)

Never tried it myself

See post #22 I like that answer.
Personally I like beer but only drink on a Saturday, but if I was driving or getting up for work the following morning and I was out I drink soft drinks.
Maybe I'm the sort of person that enjoys the alcohol kick as well as the taste.

On a slightly different note, I don't eat meat but I also don't eat vegetarian sausages or burgers.

I prefer veggie sausages now, zero gristle

I almost never have alcohol free beer either. If I'm not drinking alcohol then I'd rather have water or a low calorie soft drink. Losing weight and saving money are then nice additions to feeling all round healthier.

The one honourable exception is that Erdinger. They were handing it out at the end of the BM10K run this year. At 9.30 in the morning and covered with post run sweat, alcohol wasn't exactly top of my agenda but the Erdinger really hit the spot.

The only other time I've had alcohol free beer this year was at the Nou Camp. I ordered before I realised that all the "cerveza" served on the concourse was 0% alcohol. It was shit.
