The main thing I really don't understand about the whole'Ultra' concept is, they first copied the idea from the continent about 10 years ago.
Since then, they have been a constant in Selhurst Park, apart from a few Cup games against lower opposition, and yet, no other English club has followed their lead, no supporter instigated'displays', no droany Euro chants, no basic colour coordinated uniforms.

If this style of support was universally admired and envied, then, surely other clubs and fans woukd have nicked the idea, and by now we would be snowed under with faux German/ East European crowd bellendery, cos, football fans pinch ideas off each other all the time.

I would suggest the reason we're not snowed under is, most fans see it for what it is, embarrassing, and a substitute for a real organic atmosphere.
Exactly. They've sold this "amazing atmosphere" lie for years while fans of every other club have been laughing at them. It's even funnier now.

The ultimate insult........

I was at Huddersfield v Cardiff last week.
The Huddersfield singing was led by two blokes using tannoys and another with a drum.
The song from the Cardiff fans, "you're just a sh1t Crystal Palace.

If that is the case, the Terriers do have problems.

It wasn't ten years ago and only really showed when they reached the PL.

6 years ago was this:

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/...pty_when_Crystal_Palace_are_playing_so_well_/

Palace fans happily saying why bother if they weren't going up, crowds of 13,000 ambling around in silence. The always ultras came across from spurs and other clubs to take advantage of the disarray and a board that would pander to their every whim.

Huddersfield have taken on the euro woah woah karaoke nonsense; not the fully ultra tinpottery but pretty irritating and entirely forced from a club with poor support generally. Watford seem to love the euro woah woah bang bang bang too, but again stop short of the level of cringe dished out and lapped up at Selhurst.

That's brilliant and perfectly true. Huddersfield away last season did my head in (along with the terrible performance from our team of course)

Must be some sort of well orchestrated plan to get every other club rolling around in hysterics so they forget to train/turn up etc. Surely there's a plan hidden among all this moronic nonsense.

Palace have named a 25 man squad, they could sign him but he can't play till January, strikes me as exactly the thing they'd do to help them while Haha was injured.

No wage bill is too high for Palace. They have a Carabao Cup match he could play in afterall.

Of course, what a genius plan. Reminds me of when Holloway took them up and went on an insane supermarket sweep of bang average players at high cost. Ended up having to loan out a player they'd just bought for the first team when they figured out the rules.

where on earth are the goons that normally populate such threads and the board in general? A sprinkling of their delusion and dimwittedness would be a nice touch I feel.

This can't be correct as our (usually resident but currently absent) Palace goons were all telling us that he was shit and they didn't care that he had refused a new contract.

They must be on their holidays - they'll be back very soon to explain it for us I'm sure

Their holidays usually coincide with an upturn in their form and a defeat for us.

Extract from Thomas Cook (Palace edition):

** Great hotel in Benidorm with kennel for your pit bull included free...Free Karaoke with Euro chant lyrics supplied at the bar... Burberry furnishings...and finally we will fly you back as soon as Palace get a good result or Brighton slip up...book up now, pay 10% up front, pay the rest..well when ever you can...**

Wasn't that Stephen Dobbie? Played 1 game after signing permanently then shipped out?
