[Albion] This squad should have enough to stay up

We’re doing alright, just need to turn in a few wins now to go with the useful points. I think the squad is good enough to stay up but we’re def in a scrap.

I don't care if we go down or not.

I do care that we actually try and win games, otherwise, what's the ****ing point?

A win and a loss is better than 2 draws.

We're not trying to win IMO.

Not necessarily if one of the defeats is against a side down there with you....against that of course if it was a win against that same side.... its the good old six pointer

Not sure how.
It won't be a draw away that keeps us up or sends us down. It'll be the home form.

How is that going ?

At first read this makes sense. But actually, no- that is far, far too simplistic. Points are available in every game. If Bournemouth stay up are you telling me the result tonight had no part to play in that? Football isn't predictable- you get the points any which way you can, and not turning this kind of game into three points is definitely going to be a huge contributing factor if we go down.

We can agree to disagree.
I don't think we deserved to win tonight but we should have held on against Everton and blew a lead twice against Bournemouth. Those will stick with me if we go down.

It's been rocky, as you know.
Ask me again after we play the two teams we've already beaten away from home.

Will do

Probably working!
I'm afraid by not winning the Championship title last season told me all I needed to know about our players. Draw your own conclusions. :wozza:

Since then though, Ryan, Schelotto, Propper, Gross, Izquierdo, Locadia & Ulloa have joined the ranks.
Chill out, have a beer and watch us scrape through to survival!

Ah, in that case i partially agree. I thought you were taking about future fixtures.
Stoke and Palace too.

I remember watching us up at Old Trafford. Thinking wow, we've really got enough to stay up and do well. Just matched United at their place and been incredibly unlucky not to come away with something. That seems a long time ago now...

Tonight we took the lead, up until that point we were pretty much in charge. Then we got a penalty (never a penalty in a million years btw) and then just sat back and invited pressure upon pressure on to the team. We should be going for the kill rather than trying to and then failing to sit on a one goal advantage.

Tend to agree. I don’t think the team is set out to be negative - we certainly started on the front foot. It’s more the decisions that are made during the game. In the PL it feels inevitable that an opponent will equalise if they’re given space to play - so it does seem like we might as well keep pushing for a second if we’re ahead with more than, say, 20 minutes to defend that lead. If we’re not pushing forward, then Gross is virtually a waste of a player bar his set-pieces as he hasn’t got the pace to worry opponents. The trouble is, no-one else delivers with his quality - March’s balls in tonight were barely Championship standard compared to the dangerous crosses/corners whipped in by Ward-Prowse. Add to that Izquierdo wasting his pace by constantly cutting inside to run into a blind alley and it was very frustrating to watch. Only Murray’s guile offered much hope for most of the game.

I really don’t understand how Baldock is so far out of the reckoning. He would surely give opponents something to worry about and help us defend from the front - although circumstances tonight I suppose dictated that Kayal was the preferable sub. I’d prefer to see him in for Gross.

Just feels like we need to start making our own luck with a bit more energy and desire as we fall short on the quality front.... hopefully Ulloa and Locadia can have an impact.

We are horribly predictable. What is the point in having pace on the wings if you are not going to use it to get behind a team? The majority of our attacking play is done in front of the oppositions defence, where are the balls behind them? Gross and Propper must be tearing their hair out, creative players who are seemingly not allowed to be creative.
We show too much respect to other teams.
