The government has tabled a cross-party backed amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill revealing the precise moment Britain will finally break free from the shackles of the European Union.

Brexit is set for 11PM GMT on Friday 29th of March 2019.

Theresa May makes the announcement today, writing:

“It will be there in black and white on the front page of this historic piece of legislation: the United Kingdom will be leaving the EU on March 29, 2019 at 11pm GMT.”

The PM took the opportunity to slap down any Brexit-wreckers in the Commons, including on her own backbenches, warning:

“But I am just as clear of this: we will not tolerate attempts from any quarter to use the process of amendments to this Bill as a mechanism to try to block the democratic wishes of the British people by attempting to slow down or stop our departure from the European Union. The British people have been clear. Parliament itself voted for Article 50 – and for this Bill at its Second Reading. We are leaving the European Union on March 29, 2019.”

Why is it 11PM GMT and not Midnight GMT? That's Midnight CET. New Year starts at Midnight GMT here, so why does Brexit start on their time not ours?

And meanwhile, in the real world, you'll be pleased to know the civil service, after some long and hard negotiations over the last few years, have managed to start implementing the austerity measures and have successfully got rid of the leases for a lot of large offices across London to save money from the cut backs in staffing numbers. I haven't been on this thread for a while and now I remember why. It's populated with imbeciles who can't back up their argument. I might as well say that since the Brexit vote 15 million jobs have been moved abroad. Apparently I don't need to back this up with any facts as that's not the done thing.

You posted stating that JP Morgan and Apple had spent £3b on new offices. You must have seen that somewhere so post the link. If you didn't see it anywhere that would suggest it's made up. As for the nurses, there have been rises in the number of EU nurses since about 2010 but no massive spike like you suggest. Or, of course, you have statistics to show otherwise.

Well, i've never used any expletives on here and I have never judged anyones character, perhaps its best you don't post much on here as your likely to have a heart attack the stress your putting yourself under. As for the Apple building, my son in law is working on it as we speak as a site manager for the construction firm. The building is huge and will be one of the greenest buildings in the country.
As for backing up points, its a chat room fella, not a court of law. Many times I get issues wrong or my opinion is contrary to others, but I don't make aspersions about peoples character.
To make clear my reason for voting for Brexit i will again succinctly give the following:

Europe has become too german centric, my reason for voting out was that I believe germany exercises too much influence on what happens within the EU:

1. The Greek bailout was and is really a German/French bailout as 95% of the EU bail out money went directly to the banks who had made ridiculous loans to Greece.
2. German banks have still not passed the stress tests placed on them.
3. The Eus open border policy supports the German economy as it provides plentiful unskilled labour for their industry
4. While Spain suffers with huge unemployment, Germany brings back Seat and Krupps production plants to germany, from Spain.
5. merkels unilateral decision to allow a million immigrants into germany and then force other EU countries to do similar showed unbeleivable arrogance.
6. Junkers meets the prime Minister, 5 minutes later he rings Merkel, not the prime minister of Italy or Poland.
7. Germany sources 70%+ of their energy from Russia.
8, German contribution to foreign policy has been close to nothing.
9. Merkel used EU money to buy off Turkey to keep immigrants from crosing into the EU.
10. Germany helped keep the value of the Euro low to aid its exports.

Its not about immigration, its not about the economy for me, its about self government and not being led by germany at every turn.

So still haven't backed up your statements though. I didn't ask what your reasons for voting out were, I merely ask that you back up a statement about the nurses and the figures for these buildings. Like I said, are Apple paying for the construction or are they just going to be tenants which I suspect is the case. As I understand it they are moving staff from other areas of London to consolidate them in the Battersea Power Station development, so rent they are spending there is not being spent elsewhere. How much of an actual increased investment is there? Nobody said it was a court of law but the issues are important so why is it unreasonable to expect people who make statements quoting figures as if they are fact to back them up with sources?

I remember those type of countdown clocks back at the Millennium. Very strange that the entire 21st century only officially started globally at Midnight GMT, but Brexit starts at Midnight CET.
