It will probably be the first Civil War whereby the opposing Military or Social '' Coup '' doesn't need to hang the overthrown leader because they have already hung themselves

Lol, I'm disheartend. No revenge hangings? No burning man wicker figures? No guillotine? I want carnage...

Because Thatcher and The Tories sold them old and Paisley didn't like and stormed conference...........Did The Right Reverend Ian Paisley know better .............its's a disgrace. It was done to The Rhodeis ..........shafted.......... a Conservative and Unionist Government

Sorry but you've lost me here. I've already explained that there was clearly righteous indignation from Paisley who was by any measure an extremist at the time but we can say with hindsight that no-one was sold down the river. Can you not see that?

Labour spend money...where the hell is that money coming from?
Tories spend money...where the hell did that money come from?
We should be given facts about this country's finances and exactly how both sides are going to deal with it.
On the one hand we are skint and in dire debt which is getting worse yet billions are found when needed but on the other hand we are capable of putting all the problems right over 2 terms of Labour, yet apparently Labour will skint the country, when we are already skint.
We are drip fed information on a need to know basis, both sides scared to tell the truth, yet it's me and you that put the X on the paper.
Yes we find billions but they all go abroad and recent ones include....
£2 billion fine from the EU for having a great economy...paid within a few weeks !!
£1 billion extra for Syrian refuges
£1.3 billion for the EU foreign aid
I'm sure this is the tip of the iceberg and it's ashame the government can't put money into seriously deprived areas in Britain that resemble 3rd world countries. No wonder this country is facked as all the money disappears abroad.

Still can't believe we give North Korea £200 million:lolol:

I've not lived there. You asked where in southern Africa I had lived, I've only lived in S. Africa (Roodeport and then Phalaborwa up north).

Now you're being pedantic - I loved ZA - but I lived further north..............

i see, everyone has it wrong, including McDonnell, Shadow Housing minister and various other Labour MPs who either advanced the idea or discounted the idea after the election, political commentators and writers from Andrew Marr to Owen Jones. true it wasnt in the manifesto, that was one of the critisism at the time, but if the leaders of the party advance a policy, then its policy should they find themselve in government.

Good grief. Have you even read my previous posts? Or are you just conveniently ignoring the cold, hard, evidence that I have presented?

Yes everyone who has said Labour has had or has a policy or has promised to wipe pre-existing student debt is wrong.

But McDonnell never said that. The shadow housing minister never spoke about it. The shadow justice minister, Imran Hussain, was incorrect when he said every existing student would have their debt written off - the actual policy was that debts accrued for existing/new students in the 17/18 academic year would be written off (note he never said all student debt would be written off). It's not even a policy that was advanced. Andrew Marr said in an interview with McDonnell after the election that Labour had promised to wipe all pre-existing debt, and was immediately corrected. I'm not aware of Jones or any other Labour MPs saying it's a policy, aside from Sharon Hodgson, who said that Labour “could write off historic student debts” - that was a bit misleading, but stops short of saying it's a pledge. It's not even about it being in the manifesto or not - it has never been a policy! To make it easy for you - here's what was said by Corbyn before the GE (where all the misinformation stemmed from),"Yes, there is a block of those that currently have a massive debt, and I’m looking at ways that we could reduce that, ameliorate that, lengthen the period of paying it off, or some other means of reducing that debt burden.”. Somehow this has been spun to suggest Corbyn promised to wipe all existing student debt and has since backtracked on that pledge.

It was clear before the GE that it was never a pledge or a policy. I posted as much on this forum at the time. No one has been misled by Corbyn, no one has backtracked.

Boris Johnson recently said we will take 350m per week from the EU and redirect it to the NHS. Aside from anything else, given we know the 350m is a myth, do you think it will become a Conservative policy?

I've debunked all the falsehoods. Go ahead and read my previous posts. Or just ignore them and purposely spread misinformation. When you present evidence and quotes with sources and references that indicate what people are saying is false, and they just turn around and effectively say 'no I don't believe you, Labour and Corbyn lied, misled and backtracked', what more can you do?

I try and respect the opinions of others and not resort to personal insults. What I can't respect is people who wilfully ignore evidence and the clear truth. It's not even debatable. Corbyn and Labour never promised, pledged or said it was a policy to wipe all pre-existing student debt. Ever. There is not a single piece of evidence that proves otherwise. Anyone who denies this is either lying or is misinformed.

The young read these sorts of mistruths and know them to be false, which only serves to rile them up to fight even more against the opponents of Corbyn. They know Corbyn hasn't misled them, so they are simply shaking their heads at people who suggest otherwise.

I mean this is not even complicated stuff. How hard is it to do a bit of basic research? In this particular case, Channel 4 FactCheck has already done it for you: https://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/no-corbyn-did-not-pledge-to-abolish-student-debt (as have I, in this thread).

We expect politicians to tell the truth and get outraged if they don't. By the same token, we should all apply the same principles of adherence to the truth ourselves, otherwise we end up being pretty hypocritical, don't we?

More typical Corbynista behaviour...

https://order-order.com/2017/09/27/canary-and-evolve-politics-embarrass-themselves-again/

Tough day at The Canary: the Corbynista site’s latest Laura Kuenssberg bashing piece has provoked widespread ridicule. The site claimed: “We need to talk about Laura Kuenssberg. She’s listed as a speaker at the Tory Party conference.” Except Laura K wasn’t listed as a speaker, she was merely ‘invited’ – and indeed she had declined the offer. Rather than put a call in to the BBC to check, the Canary published and let their misleading story go viral. Their comrades at Evolve Politics went with it as well. Amusingly, dozens of complaints have been received by the Impress regulator…

Some journalists are speaking at Tory conference though. Owen Jones, for example. He’s not only invited but is a confirmed speaker at two events. We need to talk about Owen Jones. He’s listed as a speaker at the Tory Party Conference…

A lot has been said on this board (other threads) about the 'buy to let' Landlords. JC says there will be rent caps. Are the landlords on here happy with that? What do the property/rent pension builders think?

I don't know enough about rents to understand the argument but I did see that the CEO of Shelter issued a press release in response to say they are not in favour of "old-fashioned rent-setting". Can anyone help explain their position?

if only you and Labour politicans were on hand to so vociferously deny there would be any clearing of student debt during the election campaign. bit late to be highlighting what was and wasnt said after the votes are cast.

Labour is ready.

Ready to tackle inequality.
Ready to rebuild our NHS.
Ready to give security and dignity to all older people.
Ready to invest in our economy.
Ready to put peace and justice at the heart of foreign policy.
Ready to build a new and progressive relationship with Europe.
Ready to bankrupt the country.

Corrected for you.

The Unionist Community were sold out at great surprise to Dublin by a Conservative and Unionist Government. Paisley went mental. Dublin couldn't believe a Conservative and Unionist Government would do this. Shall I carry on?

Ahh........but have you lived there?

because economist across political allegience agree its bad, as you break two rules of markets, price information and incentive. investment in new rental property and more significantly maintenance and upgrading of property disappears if there is no likelyhood of a return, and you dont know where what investment you have left should be made. as the Shelter quote notes, if you are faced with a cap on return, you may just sell up, reducing the rental stock.

housing will be addressed by two policies. building more, and remove regulatory hurdles to building. not in construction standards, but in daft rules like 10% being "affordable". and that includes allowing councils to build, if they have the funding, the land and the demand, they should be allowed to particpate in the market like any private developer.

I said the same before the GE, on here, as JC's opponents were using the 'policy' to attack JC before the GE, when it was never actually a policy at all. I referenced a post I made the first time I quoted you in this thread.

Tories are in disarray, but wouldn't let this bloke run a bath. All hot air soundbites. No substance.

Right, and Theresa May never uses soundbites 'strong and stable' and 'brexit means brexit' spring to mind. Corbyn actually answers questions with realistic solutions rather the the mindless dribble May says. I'd rather have someone running the country who is willing to stand up for what they believe in and defend their policies, than shy away from debates and interviews.
