Dwamena went to FC Zrurich for £250k in January. Had we been looking at him then i the Championship or any Premier clubs they could have done the deal.
Would never have got a work permit back then.

Do you honestly believe that Dwamena could have been bought by an English Premier League/Championship club for £250k, in January?

If you do, you will stoop to a new level of cluelessness.

He was an unknown and untested striker so it may not have been in £2m mark and probably a lot less. Whether we would have got a work permit is an entirely different issue.

Zohore joined Cardiff for an undisclosed fee but FWIW transfer market said his value £360k but they are now saying it is £450k so wont hold that as being correct.

It's got nothing to do with work permits.

If an English team is asking about an 'unknown' player a zero automatically goes onto the asking price.
It's simple economics.

Just because SC Austria Lustenau sold RD to FC Zurich for £250k (irrespective of club ownership) it doesn't mean they'd have sold him to an English club for exactly the same amount of money.

Which is why no first team striker is bought into the Premier League for £2-3m.
Yet it's top end of the budget for a development squad striker.

The heart defect is irrelevant. We've left it late by trying to sign the Ghanaian and now whoever we are after at the end of August. That's just a simple fact and, in my opinion, we'll end up massively overpaying for someone as a result.

It's kinda important. Also there's absolutely no way of knowing when initial negotiations begun - as has been explained before this was a complicated deal to get through so this could have been started months ago - the club may not have known how long it was going to run on for?

So, the 'simple fact' really isn't, is it.

And if he hadn't failed the medical how do we know he would have got a work permit ? Should have been doing this in June not 5 days before the window shuts

Sack the board.

Or perhaps not.

Endless stream of PL bed wetters on 606 tonight saying 'we need a striker/defender/necromancer and we have left it sooooo late that we will be OVERCHARGED!'.

Put your knickers back on, and make me a cup of tea.

FFS.

Exactly!
We were the first team promoted yet we're still looking when Huddersfield took an extra month to get promoted yet they've done all their business a while back.
Very disappointing by the club really

Well if there was an ounce of truth in that I'd say the club have been incredibly naive to put so many eggs in one basket. It would have been a complicated deal to push through if we'd got to the work permit stage but we didn't, so are you saying it took months just to agree a fee with Basel?

Who's to say he was the only one we were targeting? Other targets may not have been interested/stayed with their clubs/gone elsewhere - if we don't hear about them it doesn't mean it isn't happening after all.

Also we have no real idea about how complex each transfer is - if life were as simple as Football Manager makes it out to be then it'd be grand but I doubt it is in reality.
