Having a knee operation tomorrow "hoping to be relieved of his stubborn knee problem. The surgery will not take place five months after the previous one. Neto, who also operated in 2015, played almost three duels since March."

Maybe we'll be back in next year van Nistlerooy style?

Well found.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if we didn't go back in the future (depending on how his "replacement" gets on once we sign him).

Interesting to see they have a specific word in Dutch for knee surgery. Maybe knee problems are such a common occurence in Holland they made a specific word for the treatment.... knieoperatie

Isn't that simply the Dutch following a similar way as the Germans and concatenating words... let me try

knee operation

...

Kneeoperation

There, we have an English version.
I was unfamiliar with the Teutonic practice of concatenating words, but thanks for broadening my vocabulary.

Just seen on Twitter that he has had an operation and is out for 6-8 months. Well done the club and medical team for saving us....

Pretty sure it is now back to being done in Brighton again.
I worked there for 30 years. When I started they sold 130,000 papers daily! When I left it was 14,000!
Something has to give and savings have to be made otherwise you would not have a daily paper. Andy Naylor does a great job, but for some reason always gets a kicking because he is a Stoke fan. Is it not good that his journalism is impartial?
Get annoyed when I see all the keyboard warriors with little or no knowledge of how the newspaper world works criticising him.

Wish someone with actual knowledge of the truth would speak up but didn't Naylor lose all club favours/scoops and privileges for writing the no holds barred expose once Garcia left?

And if that was the case then his only route back into the fold has been to totally tow the company line and if so to my mind this makes him/the paper relatively moribund?

I want my local sports journo to challenge the club and break genuine exclusives not become a lap dog.

That remains my only frustration with him. All the Stoke stuff is just the trimmings on an otherwise shit sandwich that is his average coverage of our club.

Andy fell out with the Albion in a very serious way for not towing the party line a few years back. The reality is the Albion are very corporate and channel all their news through one source and put up brick walls when it suits them.
In order to get access to the club at times you have to be diplomatic. There are loads of Journos writing about the Albion. Over the years Andy has done better than most (including the Archer days) to describe him as a lap dog is ridiculous- you really don't know him.

The club does not leak information the way it used to and very few people know exactly who our targets are. In a rather good forthcoming book, Paul Winstanley says that most of the names linked with us are wide of the mark. Most of the rumours are creativity on the part of journalists or agents hoping to raise a bit of interest in their clients.

But let's talk about exclusives - let's say Mr Naylor gets wind of a transfer we're about to do and reveals it in the Argus. If another club picks that up on NewsNow and gazumps us, as Norwich did last season, would that make you happier?

And, these days, 'challenging the club' has often meant a ban. Ask the local papers in Bournemouth, Southampton, Swindon, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

As his club have already signed a replacement, can't we take him on loan?
