Are you seriously that bothered what Brighton fans think about your signings? Why bother?

Really??? On a 32 page thread about Huddersfield's signings, you want to criticise a Huddersfield fan for offering their view?

Crikey . No guarantee it will work out for Huddersfield but on paper I would say we are currently the weakest team in the division.
I hope we have a master plan cos it looks like we are dithering and overcomplicating . Reminds me of that close season a few years ago when we ended up with dobbie.

Keep the faith, I guess.

Is it ok to say that I think Huddersfield have done really good business so far and that I'm not worried about our recruitment?

Other than Huddersfield, very few teams have bought many, I think our two new signings so far look very good on paper and that signing up Stephens again was our best deal of the summer.

I am disappointed we missed out on Abraham as I really rate him but other than that, think we're in a good position.

Was just passing by as I have a soft spot for you lot and saw that you were chatting about our signings, so thought that you might appreciate some input from our side too.

Don't worry mate. Your contribution is valued. I personally think you've made good acquisitions and certainly have given yourselves a decent chance of staying up. It's yet to be seen just how strong BHAFC will be squad wise as we've quite a bit of recruitment to do.

Quite an interesting POV, I thought

In fairness, it was less a criticism, more a question. I really don't care what Huddersfield think of our signings so I'm struggling to understand why he'd want to post on a Brighton forum so much.

It's bizarre, I've seen the argument that Huddersfield getting their business done early let's their team "gel".

Somewhat ignoring the fact our team has been "gelling" for 12 months and we finished above them....so we had a better team. We had NO loan signings in out starting team last year.

Huddersfield had FIVE. That's five players down before you even begin. No wonder they have signed people quickly.

Their entire enlarged squad will have a full pre season together.

Whereas the say five first team quality players we still need, might not be with us until approaching the 1st September. Giving Wagner almost a two months head start in coaching, fitness, etc.

It's a thread specifically about their signings, 30 odd pages long. Seems to be sparking a bit of interest with our own fans?

You would surely expect Hudds fans to come on here and defend their corner after some of the ludicrous statements put about such as "they are just catching up to where they were last season" after signing 10+ players. They caught up to where they were after signing Kachunga, Palmer, Mooy and Ince and have improved thereafter. Personally I think Ince is a far better player than Brown if they plan to play him as a no10 so it's arguable they improved on what they had just in those 4.

"Preparing for the Championship" is another one, a statement often directed at us since promotion from condescending PL non-fans, yet we think it's ok to pass it onto them despite our transfer activity being pretty barren lately.

I'm not in any sort of panic with our own business, more of a mild concern. However, this comparison to other clubs and how many they've brought in annoys me, most of them already have very good squads. Ours is thin and lacking in some quality additions. Also don't forget that one of our 2 signings, and the large part of our total spending, was to replace a player who left on a free.

This thread was literally just started so one fan could moan about our lack of signings (as if there weren't any other opportunities to do so already).

As for Huddersfield fans, I don't care whether there is a 30 page thread, why does it matter to them what we think? I don't care what Huddersfield think about Mathew Ryan and Pascal Gross.

The catching up to their team last season is a valid point as they had five loanees at the end of the season (as is your point that Ryan is effectively the same as he replaces a first team player). I agree re preparing for the Championship as we don't know enough about their signings for that (although other than Mounier, I am not particularly bothered about us not competing for any of them).

Excellent post.

"Ours is thin and lacking in some quality additions", is true. The high quality of the offensive players coming at us in games, and the rock solid defences containing internationals, need to be matched, or we'll simply do a Norwich/Boro/Hull.

At least they'll have most if not all their signings in place for pre-season which is vital for the way they prepare in terms of team building and psycho, go through brick walls for the team mentality Wagner seems to favour. and whose to say he's wrong???

I get what you're saying but personally I think we will sign 3 more.

The Hudds fan on here also thinks they will sign 3 more.

So we have a group of players who already have had a season together(winning as well), plus the 2 new guys, plus the 3 newbies

Hudds have 7 new guys and 3 potential newbies.

I personally will take the 12 months of playing as a team, match experience as a team, winning as a team and training as a team over the 2 months Wagner will have with his new team.

This is again, not a dig at Hudds. They've had to do it this way. Personally I am FAR more comfortable with our tried and tested team with some sprinklings of new talent being added.

It was a valid point. They reacquired Palmer and got what they consider a better GK on loan. They signed Kachunga (1M), Mooy(8M) and Ince(10M) who I think is a better player than Brown. So effectively they have mildly improved with just those 5. Then they signed 2 strikers, a LB, CB and CM.

Whether we would want any of them is besides the point I'm making, they have significantly improved their squad from last year and Wagner will have them for a full pre-season. To say "they have only caught up to us" is very ignorant.

I'll leave you with this:

Burnley signed 5 players last summer I believe. Only 2 were starters. Stayed up

Middlesborough signed 11 players. Built a new team. Players like Negredo, Valdes, De Roon, Fischer, Traore, Fabio, Barragan, Chambers - Went down.

Chill out, yeah?

You know what I mean.

They had been in the PL the year before their 2015/16 promotion and had already signed Keane and raided the Championship that Summer as we well know with Ward. A squad they largely kept together. They didn't need to go nuts when bouncing back.

Not suggesting we should do a Boro or a Hudds by the way, just saying the point doesn't really stand up to scrutiny.

The point about Boro is a good one. They went up and made WHOLESALE changes to the team that got them there. They then went on to absolutely STINK the place out, had a miserable season, and crashed straight back down (whilst boring the tits off everyone in the process).

An aspect I have always been happy about is that fact that whilst we do (obviously) need strengthening, the team does not need completely ripping apart. I'm disappointed that Stockdale shat himself and scarpered back to the 2nd division, as he was part of a good spine to the team. But if he has been adequately replaced, then with Dunk/Duffy, Stephens/Kayal/Sidwell (already bolstered by Gross) and Murray, we do already have a good foundation up the middle. I fully expect a quality forward or two to arrive as we can't rely on Murray all season.

We need some proven quality of course, but we are not in the position of needing major surgery.
