I think it will be interesting to see how folk react to fans cheering the opposition scoring a goal.

a) Tut loudly
b) Ignore them
c) report them to the closest steward as away fans are not allowed in the home end

I'd probably ignore them but then we are in the family section.
d) Punch them in the chops.

I'm a Brighton fan. Always have been, always will be. But I am also a football fan. I watch a lot of football. Most of the time, I will have a preference as to who I want to win. If they score, I will cheer. The fact I cheer another team scoring has absolutely no impact on my support for Brighton and nor should it.

Watching a game and cheering a goal does not automatically mean that you support that team on a long term basis or that you have two teams.

This is massively overplayed. I don't know anyone that supports Brighton and has a Premier League team as well. However I do know some people that support a Premier league team and occasionally go to a Brighton game. That is very different.

agree.

Its a Palace insult that appears to of stuck a bit.

I can honestly say I have never witnessed it in various stands at the Amex and been to pretty much all the games

I know Liverpool fans and supporters who go to Amex games and love the Albion. They chose Liverpool when they were tiny, before they were aware of the Albion who were going through wilderness decades. Let's face it, when 12,000 were turning up at the Goldstone or 6,000 at Withdean, only a tiny number of Sussex folk out of a population of 1.5m could genuinely say that they adored the Abion.

I know a Sussex born and bred guy who was a big fan of Ipswich in the Bobby Robson era, switching to Arsenal from the George Graham era, then getting into the Albion at Withdean and now a loyal 1901 Club member.

I also know a few who got into Arsenal during in their 20's ditching all their previous clubs, again from the George Graham era. Psychologists call it Reflected Glory. They've gone through 12 years of agony as Wenger has led them from being the joint best in the PL to a selling club overtaken by others. Paying £2,000 each for an Emirates s/t, some have thrown in the s/t towel and have given the Amex a go but just can't get into it.

I think we will see Arsenal supporting Dads taking their Albion sons (and daughters) to the games.

If a team scores that wins me my weekly accumulator - you bet I'm going to celebrate that goal.

Really don't see the issue with people following a 2nd team. As many have said, it can be nice to have an interest in a club in a different division to Brighton. In my younger years, I followed United. Don't know why. Just did.

No one in my family followed football, let alone support Brighton. As I grew up, become more and more obsessed with the game, and followed my local team more and more.

Once I was old enough and had enough Saturdays free (while working part-time) I got my Brighton season ticket and here I am going into my 7th season. Still have a passing sense of attachment to United - but I'm a Brighton fan.

If you're lucky enough to be born into it - good for you. But people have different football journeys - and if they're at the Amex (or away) supporting the Albion - that's what really counts.

Apologies if this has been done.

Much to my annoyance some "Albion" fans would watch Spurs, Arsenal, Man U etc on the Sky match before or after kick off and be seriously into the actual games, proper celebrations when a goal was scored etc, so who do they support next year?

Surely you can't support both? Or will it be I follow Brighton but Spurs are me Premier League club?

Really don't get following Brighton but supporting Man Utd or the other way around.

Oh come on! Most Albion fans, come to think of it, any football fan, will cheer a goal if it's scored against a side that they despise. Or it could be an underdog goal against top opposition. It's a momentary celebration that has absolutely no bearing on the love and loyalty for the magnificent Seagulls. When we score THAT really does count and is celebrated accordingly. :albion2:

Just had a thought about how fantastic it is now that THOSE people can no longer obnoxiously say "yeah, you support Brighton, but who are your Premier League team?" ... "you MUST have one" ... "not even UNITED or CITY?"

W*NKERS

Strange, maybe just me, but no-one has ever asked me who my 'Premier League Team' is. Some odd people about

I've followed Liverpool for over 30 years, but not to the same level as the Albion - I've never been to Anfield. Sorry - just true.

When I first moved away from the South East some 15 years ago I went to a few local Premier League games (Liverpool/Everton) but was just bored as I didn't care who won. I could never support another team.

Used to happen a lot at school, but can't say I've ever been asked by an adult. Having said that I don't hang out with plastics.

I know someone who grew up as a Liverpool fan but moved to Brighton when he was a teenager and became a Brighton fan, season ticket holder at Withdean and still one at the Amex BUT also still supports Liverpool equally although he can only watch about 5 of their games a season which he fits in when Brighton aren't playing.

I asked him about next season and he said he wants both teams to win their home games against each other.

He is going to be in bits on the last game of the season if they both need a win for something crucial!

Exactly this we are all football fans and when watching a pre match game whether championship or premier league you can always get into the game and like you say have a cheer if a bad mistake made or a team collapses. Some of our fans are so precious and I see far more genuine Brighton fans at games than undercover fans of other sides (and yes like ALL clubs we have some of them as well)
