You tease

I had no knowledge any more than anyone else but you just put the known facts together.

A lad who has spent the last 4 years or so with a Club in the Championship. That Club all of a sudden gets to the Premiership and he has an offer of a new contract on the table and he is reluctant to sign where all the other out of contract players are signing. On the dotted line.

Most players are desperate to play in that Division - If he isn't clambering to sign a new contract then you have to expect they won't be signing. That's what my views are based on.

They've given him three years. We wouldn't. It really is as simple as that.

(Plus, as Kinky suggests, it'll be a t'riffic signing on ridiculous wages)

Just asked my son to guess where DS has signed for. After 25 attempts, mostly prem clubs and the obvious Champ clubs he gave up. I told him it was another Championship club that he hadn't mentioned. Five more attempts...no correct answer. Begins with B I tell him... he screws his face up 'Burton'

I just put him out of his misery.

A few idiots at the ground and online were enough to help Ashley Barnes decide his future lied elsewhere after his Brighton contract was do to expire and the club knew it and decided to sell early to get some cash back. (not the PL i know)

If you get abuse, and Stockdale is someone who wears his heart on his sleeve, he is more likely to be affected by it that others may be. They are still human after all.

The stuff surrounding the young kid (possibly family member) and his Leeds shirt was possibly the final straw and meant he went elsewhere(can't find the original pic any more so it seems like it's been deleted)
I would expect a pro to have thicker skin than worry about a few moaners.

Is nobody going to think of the PIG? Is he going to be competing with Stockdale or has he been moved on?

Must be on a hell of a wage to uproot the family and say goodbye to the PL to go to a shithole like St.Andrews and a basket case club like Birmingham

Has to be about money, I bet Leeds fans aren't happy. Will have to keep an eye on their reactions on Stockdale's twitter.

Great player for us. Thanks for all the memories and being part of two of the great seasons in Albion history. I wish him all the best. A terrific signing for Birmingham!

Yes there is.

CH didn't see him as his first choice in the Premier League.

So you think he was told he was going down the pecking order rather than being told he had more competion for his place? I find that hard to believe after last season tbh. Especially when you see where he has pitched up. Has to be about money imo

Possibly similar to the Goldson Situation. Stockdale made a few errors in big games but he also performed heroically and won us a lot more points that he lost us. Even though, as with Duffy replacing Goldson, CH didn't see him as solid enough for the PL. DS's decision to join Birmingham does throw up questions about ambition and whether DS actually believes in himself and his ability enough.

Reading the last few pages of this thread, I must be the only person who is rather glad that he has gone. Did not rate him that highly and thought he was not good enough for the prem. I'm guessing that the club did not rate him that much as they only offered him a 1 year contract.

He did a decent job for us, but there are lots of better GK's out there. It's the clubs job to make sure we sign a better replacement.

Fed up with trains. Sick of the rain.
'Arry must be setting about bankrupting Birmingham like he did with Portsmouth. I could understand him going to Leeds or even warming the bench at Chavski. But Birmingham?? Wish him well bit if that's the extent of his ambition then we need a different keeper anyway.

Hughton has got it spot on, Stockdale would have been a squad player for us in the Prem. Yes we have some fantastic memories of penalty saves from last season but he has made costly errors too, we need someone more consistent between the sticks in the top tier.

Doubt it. Birmingham wage bill last season £15m compared to the Albion's £27m (which could easily triple 2017/18).

Birmingham are not going to pay him £80k a week or any of the other silly numbers being quoted.
