Thanks for that Mr Pedant,... on today the 6th of June aswell..... classy.

I'm just struggling to see your point.

I asked you a question as to whether the elderly should have a maximum age cap on voting. Note I never offered an opinion. I just asked the question. You answered that they probably should. So you're advocating taking the vote off war veterans on the 6th June and then having a pop at me.

Odd.

A life lived
,

You don't even sound very happy. Retired at 54 after what must have been a very successful 30years working in IT, pensions, investments, and what are you left with, moaning about the youth not having any life experience. What happens to people when they get old that they have this life experience that suddenly makes them wise old sages like some Tolkien novel!?

Balls to that, the young are fresh and exciting with new outlooks, and ways of doing things. The entire Beatles output achieved before they were 30, Alexander Graham Bell inviting the telephone at 24, the atom discovered by a 26 year old, Michelangelo completing the statue of David at 26, Shelley writing Frankenstein at 21, Kate Bush wrote The Man With A Child in His Eyes at 15, Orsen Welles made Citizen Kane at 25 - the young are the creative, inventive driving force of culture, invention, progress. They see things differently, with fresh eyes, to be embraced not dismissed by some bitter oldies thinking they know more just because they're old!

Great point, illustrates that the views and votes of both old and young should be treated equally. I'm in.

All have something to bring to the party in equal measures.

..and you know that for a fact because? Don't happen to have Saturday's Lottery nos. too do you?

If you start to think through the consequences, then you don't need a crystal ball. A "No Deal" Brexit, which is what May is leading us to, means 50% of our exports dry up overnight, most flights to Europe impossible, virtually all our imports caught up at Dover, mass exodus of EU nationals (NHS and other emergency services crippled), Sterling massively devalued....etc. Fortunately for them, the likes of Theresa May, Boris, the proprietors of the Mail, Sun, Express, etc - all of them will be fine. They are very wealthy, and won't give a toss.

I'm entitled for wanting free healthcare, education and right to travel as my elders had?

A more understanding would consider it fair. My entitlement.

Take take take but give nothing back to the children. The children say enough is enough and say I want want what my parents have had - then they get called entitled.

You clearly don't care. Just an I'm alright jack who's had his day and not willing to let the children have their day.

JC, and I do not mean Jezza! I want this, I want that, it's not fair! You do realise that you have not seen your immediate elders being lost in war, you do realise that your age group sends multiple times more people to Uni than ours ever did, you do realise that we had a 20 year old banger as our first car not a 20 grander on finance, you do realise that our stag night was in the Red Lion at the end of the street not a week in fxxkin Vegas, you do realise that we had a 3 day week, you do realise that our tea was bread and butter sarnies, you do realise that our honeymoon was a weekend in Weston Super Fxxkin Mare?

Getting on the property ladder has never been harder than it is now I readily accept, but for fxxks sake! Not everyone should get FREE Uni education, not everyone will get an amazing job, not all of us can have a Utopian lifestyle. But today's snowflakes seem to think the world owes them something, well, that £5 latte that you think is so essential just might teach you something if you try sniffing it hard enough!

I bet many felt as miserable as you when we had the misfortune to join that glorious organisation in the 70s too. Land of Milk and Honey? Righto.

Because the over 45s not only got free university education, they got grants to pay for their accommodation & food, then they went into jobs with full salary pensions, able to buy a house with a 5% deposit and a reasonable 3.5 times your salary mortgage. Oh yeah, much better coming out of university now in the red for 30k no chance of buying a property for a decade and pensions worth next to nothing. Sense of entitlement, well, if the shoe fits.

What pertcentage of over 45's went to Uni?

Bit of a tactical error I feel for the Tories to abolish human rights just as the Commies come to power on Friday :)

****ing good. About time

So you are happy to do away with all of the following so that we can clamp down on alleged terrorists

What rights does the Human Rights Act protect?

The right to life: protects your life, by law. The State is required to investigate suspicious deaths and deaths in custody.
The prohibition of torture and inhuman treatment: you should never be tortured or treated in an inhuman or degrading way, no matter what the situation.
Protection against slavery and forced labour: you should not be treated like a slave or subjected to forced labour.
The right to liberty and freedom: you have the right to be free and the State can only imprison you with very good reason – for example, if you are convicted of a crime.
The right to a fair trial and no punishment without law: you are innocent until proven guilty. If accused of a crime, you have the right to hear the evidence against you in a court of law.
Respect for privacy and family life and the right to marry: protects against unnecessary surveillance or intrusion into your life. You have the right to marry and enjoy family relationships.
Freedom of thought, religion and belief: you can believe what you like and practise your religion or beliefs.
Free speech and peaceful protest: you have a right to speak freely and join with others peacefully, to express your views.
No discrimination: everyone’s rights are equal. You should not be treated unfairly – because, for example, of your gender, race, sexuality, religion or age.
Protection of property: protects against state interference with your possessions.
The right to an education: means that no child can be denied an education.
The right to free elections: elections must be free and fair.

So which model to you suggest we sign up to Stalin or Mao?

Oh, I am very happily retired,.... I even have a part time little hobby job running the shop at my local brewery,... not because I need to, but because I like to keep busy. ... IT for pensions and investments,... I made a choice to stick at the same job through many trials and tribulations, I have been rewarded at the end of the day, for my decisions, not for what I thought I was entitled to.

They do know more,... they have an accumulation of many more years of life and work..... so this gives them an advantage when making a voting decision, at least over your proposed under 18 potential voters.... its a logical extrapolation.

Interesting interpretation, is Jeremy leading up to a " No Deal" as well ?

We're an awful lot better off than before we joined - so, yes, in relative terms it is a land of milk and honey. I'd be more optimistic if the Brexiteers actually had a plan for the future. However, despite championing Brexit for years prior to the Referendum, and having had almost a year since the vote itself, they still don't have a clue what they are doing. Anyway, we won't have to argue about this for too much longer because - over the next 12 months or so - the true horror of Brexit will become apparent. And I confidently predict that May, Johnson, Davis and Fox will blame it all on those nasty Europeans. Because, in a Brexiteer's world, nothing is ever their own fault - all our ills are down to the Frogs, Krauts and other assorted Euro-types. But at least we'll be able to eat curved bananas again!

You have taken this Brexit badly haven't you? If I recall, Foot, Benn, Shore and Castle were quite sceptical at the time. This is new ground, an exciting time, unchartered waters so to go into it with a negative approach where nobody, I repeat nobody knows the outcome appears to some as short-sighted and narrow minded. An opportunity some call it.

What a lod of tosh - complete and utter bullshit. 50% exports dry up overnight. No, you dipshit, worst case scenario WTO rules with an average tariff of 4%. Some products higher, some lower.

Flight to Europe impossible. Wow, you must be really thick. No, I mean really thick. Can you fly to Switzerland now, or Egypt, or Dubai? Yes. I'll say no more, but if you really belive your post then you need help, otherwise it's just emotional clap-trap.
