As I'm heavily dependent on the NHS and in receipt of disability benefits I absolutely dread the forthcoming years under this lot.

If you dont need the pension or heating allowance why should you get it and I agree all benefits and hand outs should be means tested.

What is more of concern is that I was told this week that all councils now credit check people on the housing list.

The State Pension is based on years of NI contribution, therefore whatever you get from it you are entitled to. Whether you need it or not is irrelevant. If you need more then this is already means tested.

What is wrong with credit checking, perhaps you can let us know how this is being used by the Council.

It really comes over as a desperate power grab from May. The spindoctors have suddenly started trying to give her a softer side and a " personality" where none exists. She is a low functioning apparatchnik who has found herself in pole position in a Ford Fiesta against rivals in wheelbarrows and for the first time in her life she will be coming first in something.

She has little or no policies, aims or ideals other than retaining power, hence the simplistic chants of Strong and Stable and the avoidance of debate and real interaction so she can't be forced to come up with an answer that hasn't been constructed and rehearsed.. there has been an obscene amount of focus on how wonderful May is and how awful Corbyn is which tries to mask the real agendas that should be debated. The Tory manifesto is minimalist as to ensure it does not get held to any promises it can't U-turn out of when things turn sticky. The real issues are not debated or admitted by the Tories but they are quick to pour scorn on anything Labour suggest. Sad times indeed.

that gives alot of people the chance to pay bills go on holiday and generally have a good standard of living in the UK

Very good analogy about rivals in wheelbarrows! And pretty much sums up the simplicity of the up coming election.
Party manifestos don't mean jack shit because whether you like it or not the Conservatives are the only party actually capable of running the country as every other party are nothing but a joke!

I'm very aware of that. But the super rich don't always get to where they are simply through hard work. The Tories have a history of helping those who have the means to help themselves. Under Tory rule the rich have gotten much richer whilst the poor are having to use food banks and there has been a huge rise in children growing up in poverty. That's no ok. It's also not ok that some cooperations pay less tax then their employees.

Do your own homework. Checking figures from Child Health (RCPCH) and Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) would be a start.

I agree about the state pension but was referring more to assistance like heating allowance which you can get if you live in Spain provided you are living in UK in September.

As regards credit checks for council housing or social housing as it is now known I think that it is wrong. There are many people who had a troubled teenage life and perhaps incurring debts and a bad credit record. When they become sensible at 25 years old they cannot get a mortgage because of their credit history, perhaps a car or motor bike purchase or credit card , but why should that stop them getting a council house. I think that it is wrong and unfair on youngsters.

yes, why should credit affect getting a council house? they dont need credit to be homed by the council, who have to house/accommodate people based on need. suggest that this using a credit check company to prove identity.

You forgot sacking all the experienced prison officers, allowing prisoners to do pretty much what they want and then realising it was a huge mistake, so they are recruiting more inexperienced ones and then claiming they are doing a great job because they are recruiting X number of new prison officers.
And they can only do that because we have a strong and stable economy.
