Yeah. I'd definitely say a muppet is marginally preferable to being a moron.

Damn, as I thought.
I can not understand why you are so annoyed, you have a win win situation.
If our Brexit goes tits up then the Fatherland will be ok, if Brexit goes well you can slip back into the country and reap the benefits.
The jobs a good un, cheer up.

The government has said it wants to get the immigration figures down to tens of thousands, to achieve this cuts would have to made outside the EU, and INSIDE the EU, that is why I mentioned the EU, because those figures would have to be used.

It's pretty clear that this will not happen. David Davis said this week that he thinks immigration from the EU will continue to rise AND that in the future the situation will be "managed" according to need. The idea that there will be a cap and that net migration will be down to tens of thousands is a myth.

It seems to have been totally ignored that the immigration figures include the three years that foreign students spend here in our universities, paying full wack for their education, with no intention of actually remaining when their studies are done. Universities rely on this money to subsidise our own students and keep education costs down.

Good to see that you agree he employs thousand of people, and seeing as they are R&D they will be well paid jobs, I presume you would rather we had people assembling things a la China?

Manufacturing in the UK (well the West actually) has to be utterly high end these days - I was working at Ricardo Engineering (look it up) in Shoreham the other day, unbelievable engineering skills in design, fabrication and evaluation for the world's Automotive Industry. I'll admit they do also assemble stuff.

Can't disagree that skills are a problem, but that is something the UK Government should be addressing ...

Come on. A couple of thousand is barely "thousands" :)

I've no doubt that there is high end manufacturing, but yes I would like to see fabrication and assembly in the UK.

Not totally ignored at all. Repeat a few times CONTROLLED immigration, that has always been stated.

Then it won't get down to tens of thousands as we get that many students already. Hopefully it will continue or else some of our colleges will close.

I wasn't annoyed. Just flabbagasted that you can post such nonsense about the economic markets.

This is fantastic. Things leave voters want brought back. More than half want the death penalty and loads want corporal punishment in schools. Making Britain great again.

You could have predicted this. All it takes is some fruitcake politician in need of a quick lift and we'll be faced with another huge NSC thread full of people ranting about wet liberal extremists wanting to thwart democracy by arguing against hanging and thwacking and old fashioned light bulbs.

What is it that makes Leavers more likely to support these things?

Not going to happen, if fabrication and assembly can be done cheaper elsewhere it will be and soon it will mostly be done robotically in any case.

We will have to use our brains rather than our hands, it won't matter who is in power; Labour, Tory or Monster Raving Loony...

Odd. I voted remain but feel a little sad but largely ambivalent now that we've hit the big red button. I guess this is what comes of being born and raised in a democracy. For my own part, I take the view that the majority view wins and we proceed on that basis whether I like it or not. Whether I approve or not is immaterial.

Over to you then Politicos. Be the grown ups and make this work*
