Early Leavers

We are there because we are fans and we spend a fair amount of time and money to do so. Glenn Murray is there because he is paid a bloody fortune. I walk a lot of the way so I never need to leave early, but I firmly believe people can leave when they like, and tough tits if poor Glenn doesn't like it.

I don't know how many times it needs to be said, but this thread is about the reaction to Newcastle's winner, not people leaving early in general.
It was unfortunate timing. Sure the usual early leavers were itching to get up, and the goal made their minds up - you can't separate the two things given the timing. If the fluke had been on 70 and the winner on 80, the exodus would have started earlier.

The thread is titled "Early Leavers" and has subsequently led to an attack on people who choose, for whatever reason, to leave some/all games early. So, you know, you're kinda wrong. Now, as you were...

I see dumb people

We could have played another four hours let alone four minutes, and we still wouldn't have equalised.
probably but I reckon a lot of fans say that and then we do in many matches but obviously keep quiet after

As a fan of many decades, it's easy to tell the difference between being on top in a game, like Birmingham, and looking totally spent, like last Tuesday.

Nonsense. This was more than just the usual early leavers. This was a mass exodus as soon as the Newcastle winner hit the net. I'm right at the back of the North Stand so had a perfect view of how many people just fled into the night, heads down like we had just been relegated. It was nothing to do with getting home "early" (I regularly get home at 12.30am for midweek games and have to get up for work the next morning. Give me a medal), nothing to do with avoiding queues. It was because we had supposedly lost, even though there were still five minutes to go. Boo hoo. I reckon that 99% of them would have done exactly the same if the game had been a Saturday 3pm ko. If you've got a genuine reason for leaving early I've got no problem with that. If you were one of the thousands, yes thousands, of spineless fans who turned their backs on the team when they needed our support then I genuinely hope you don't get tickets for any of our remaining away games. Bring on Forest when I'll be among hopefully 2000 other Brighton fans supporting the team from the first whistle to the last.

Not nonsense. Some of the usual early leavers (I'm surrounded by them in WSL) were still there on 85. The goal triggered all the usual early leavers who'd stayed a bit longer than usual, and a load of others who aren't usually early leavers, so there was a huge exodus of late 'early leavers', and early 'late leavers' that coincided. Looked bad.

Anyway, see you at Forest 😀

According to my boss, who watched it on Sky and as a neutral thought it was fantastic game between two pretty well-matched teams, it looked bloody awful. Whatever way we're dressing it up there was a stupidly large number of "early late leavers", especially in the North Stand, whose only excuse for heading for the exits as quickly as possible seems to be a toys-out-the-pram reaction to going behind very late on. I take it none of these were at Brentford, and like I said I hope none of them will be there tomorrow.

You haven't got a clue who was at Brentford or who will be at Forest. You're just trying to justify your moan.

A steward at Brentford told me some of ours left at half time

It is a symptom of modern all seater stadiums. Wouldn't be as easy to leave early on terracing.
It annoys me but some have their "legitimate " reasons I guess.
What I can't accept are those that start to leave and then pause to watch the action and block my view.
Either leave or stay - DON'T DO BOTH!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure there were. I wasn't literally suggesting that none of the "late early leavers" were at Brentford. The bloke standing next to me left when we went 3-2 down. I really, really, really hope he'd made it outside when we equalised.

Very political this thread a lot of 'Remainers' and 'Br(ighton)exiteers having their say.

Guess what, nobody is going to take any notice of the 'moaners' and they will still leave when they like. Like they do at every ground in the country, week in, week out. It's better they come and leave early than not come at all.
