Trump is a protectionist. I like looking after ones own people before interfering in other nations affairs.

Looking after ones own people and not interfering in other nations affairs aren't mutually inclusive.

Trump could stop interfering in other nations affairs, and not introduce protectionist policies, restricting people's freedom.

You seem to be forgoing you libertarian ideals for something else?

He's already pushing a position of protecting US business interests. The US automotive industry is already better off under Trump than it was in 8 years of Obama. Maybe the people of Michigan were justified I their rejection of democrats for Republicans.

You see a libertarian is aware that their views are and will always be majority personal. Society has become so brainwashed by two party governments baby sitting them that most can't fathom a society where they have to take responsibility for the majority of their lives. I'm happy enough knowing my views will never be made policy but at least I can think for myself and not be a sheep to the major parties that take the general populous for granted.

So are you saying that restricting peoples freedom, i.e. in this case by introducing protectionist policy, can be a good thing?

It can be a very good thing if those people are trying to do you harm!

"America First, America First... every decision on American trade will be based on the needs of America first "... that post brexit deal is looking a bit one sided now.
