Banging out The Black Madonna's excellent Boiler Room set and guzzling some crafts before heading out. Best wishes to everyone who sails in the good shop NSC. I think 2017 is going to be special.......

12 year old Jnr asked if he could stay up tonight, till midnight.

I replied no as it would mean him sitting on his own for 3 hours.

Nighty night night NSC.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I don't hate New Year's Eve as such, but I always felt it to be a hassle and never a natural night out when who knows what might happen. So organised and oppressively cheery that it has that American sitcom quality to it, with canned laughter and almost endless applause. Tonight, I've shortly ago landed from a few days in Spain, so it's Eastenders catch-up, a ghastly takeaway, and match of the day, all whilst thinking of what I better get on with from tomorrow, in a year I hope to not mind remembering for the right reasons.

Another grumpy so and so here. Never really liked NYE - even when I was younger - and it is probably 15 years since I last went out for NYE. Don't get the fuss about it so tonight me and Mrs DCH have had our usual nice steak dinner (35 day aged from Garlic Wood Farms) and enjoying a nice quiet drink.

Not sure she had watching MOTD on her agenda though!

Are there any firework displays in Brighton tonight? The pier? Anywhere?

Just curious.

Poll is flawed. It's not my favourite night of the year, but there again I don't hate it.

I took my wife out for a meal at La Campanas in Haywards Heath and returned home for the last couple of hours. I refuse, on principle to pay to get into a bar on NYE.

I think NYE is vastly overated but I don't hate it,

Can't vote as I neither like it or hate it, I just try and ignore it. Was in bed by 11:30 last night (Dec 31st), although I'd just dozed off when the fireworks went off.

I loved it when I was younger and I had my life in front of me, now I tend to look at each new year with a sense of .... trepidation I suppose. I'm not by nature a depressive person, but because all the TV and newspapers tend to run articles looking back at the old year and looking forward to the new, I do find myself wondering if all my family and friends (and pets) will make it through.

Behind My Eyes
I watched Tom Hardy read book at bedtime at 18.50 ..... then fell asleep until about 1, woken up by a domestic rant outside my front window ... HAPPY NEW YEAR
