But we now know that the majority of people in the UK would vote to stay in the EU, were there to be a Referendum today. As a nation we're actually more pro-EU than France and Italy.
I wonder if this information will make any difference to the Brexiteers?

'We know' as in most polls showed how Remain would win on the run up to the referendum.

None of this has happened because (in case you've missed it) we are STILL in the EU. It's when we leave that the problems will really start. Don't worry, you will definitely be a lot worse off.

But they said it would happen immediately after a vote to Leave

A vote to leave would represent an immediate and profound shock to our economy. That shock would push our economy into a recession and lead to an increase in unemployment of around 500,000,...." - HM Treasury

Still the fact their forecast got the immediate aftermath of the vote to leave horrendously wrong (#projectfear) won't diminish the remoaners belief /hope that their longer term predictions may be more accurate.

From the @FT comments page. Sums it up for me.

Remainers (left holding the Brexit baby after the Leavers… left) “WTF?”

Leavers “We voted Brexit, now You Remainers need to implement it”

Remainers “But it’s not possible!”

Leavers “The People Have Spoken. Therefore it is possible. You just have to think positively.”

Remainers “And do what exactly?”

Leavers “Come up with a Plan that will leave us all better off outside the EU than in it”

Remainers “But it’s not possible!”

Leavers “Quit with the negative vibes. The People Have Spoken.”

Remainers “But even you don’t know how!”

Leavers “That’s your problem, we’ve done our bit and voted, we’re going to sit here and eat popcorn and watch as you do it.”

Remainers “Shouldn’t you do it?”

Leavers “It’s not up to us to work out the detail, it’s up to you experts.”

Remainers “I thought you’d had enough of experts”

Leavers “Remain experts.”

Remainers “There are no Leave experts”

Leavers “Then you’ll have to do it then. Oh, and by the way, no dragging your feet or complaining about it, because if you do a deal we don’t want, we’ll eat you alive.”

Remainers “But you don’t know what you want!”

Leavers “We want massive economic growth, no migration, free trade with the EU and every other country, on our terms, the revival of British industry, re-open the coal mines, tea and vicars on every village green, some bunting, and maybe restoration of the empire.”

Remainers “You’re delusional.”

Leavers “We’re a delusional majority. DEMOCRACY! So do the thing that isn’t possible, very quickly, and give all Leavers what they want, even though they don’t know what they want, and ignore the 16 million other voters who disagree. They’re tight trouser latte-sipping hipsters who whine all the time, who cares.”

Same old FT ... playing to the home crowd.

Remoaners (crying like a baby unable to accept they lost) “WTF?”

Leavers “We voted Brexit, now we need to implement it”

Remoaners “Waaaah”

Leavers “The People Have Spoken. Therefore time to accept the result.”

Remoaners “No No no no no Waaah”

Leavers “The Government has several months then a further 2 years to Come up with a plan/negotiate a deal that will leave us all better off outside the EU than in it”

Remoaners “But it’s not possible ....it can't be possible or we would all be proved wrong!”

Leavers “Quit with the negative vibes. The People Have Spoken.”

Remoaners “Waaaah”

Leavers "Time to move on, stop whining"

Remoaners “We demand to see the plan”

Leavers “Don't be silly we can't reveal our hand pre negotiations”

Remoaners “Ooooo you haven't got a plan”

Leavers “What specifically would you like the government to tell us now without damaging our negotiating position?”

Remoaners “Ermmmm .... no Plan!”

Leavers “It would be nice if you could finally accept the result and stop trying to undermine our country”

Remoaners “But you don’t know what you want!”

Leavers “We want to leave the EU and make a success of it”

Remoaners “You’re delusional.”

Leavers “We’re a majority. DEMOCRACY! ”

It's very similar in the Aviation industry - no-one I know in the industry voted Leave, but everyone is having to pick up the pieces and make it work. It's going to be hugely challenging, and as soon as we trigger Article 50 we hand all the negotiating cards to the other side. The rest of the EU can then just sit on their hands, and in two years time we won't be able to fly from the UK to the 27 countries in the EU. Highly unlikely, of course, but I don't understand why we're putting ourselves in this position.

Do you actually know anybody who voted Leave?Does your scenario mean the other 27 countries wont be able to fly here then?

Really, we are still in the EU, I thought Brexit was now as it is getting the blame. So all these predictions that were going to happen if the vote was Leave in June, have not happened immediately as predicted, because we are still in the EU...... hardly worth predicting then.

That's a majority for 'no' then.

Yes it is, in an opinion poll of 2500'ish people. Given the recent form of opinion polls, it probably indicates that there is a majority "yes". We would need another referendum to know for sure.

if you acknowledged free movement is nowhere near as important as you think it is, I believe you and some other remainers would be in a much happier place right now.

Yes, I suppose you're right. I would be much happier if I could ignore the hopes and horizons of the family members following behind me. And thanks for telling me that their ambitions are nowhere nearly as important as they think they are - I'll pass on the information.

I appreciate your link to the report that 70 per cent of the public apparently want controls on EU immigration but as the same survey showed that a considerably larger proportion wants to remain a part of the single market it really doesn't tell us a great deal.

That is witty and not without some grain of truth. However leaving was never going to be implemented by leavers such was the majority in parliament for remain. The Tory party is to blame, not the people who voted Brexit. I'm sure if asked, Farage would have led the Brexit march after the vote, but then wouldn't remainers have complained?
