We can sign anybody who was a free agent on 31st Aug so who falls into that catergory? Stephane Sessegnon has been mentioned as has Adebayor and Anelka both of whom I wouldnt want, but who else is available for us to discuss their merits and faults. The chances are they will be old and possibly past their best but could still do a job

So you wouldnt want adebayor, anelka or sessegnon? I ask because you mention 3 names then say bpth which would normally refer to 2

Sort of. No need to be sarcastic. Would it have troubled you to express your opinion on sessegnon or do you just consider him unworthy of an opinion

I have previously agree he would be a good signing on the thread about him I was using him as an eample and searching for other options.

Dexter Blackstock was mentioned earlier.

Yes, reasonably poor, but good enough for 4th choice ?

Adrian Colunga... Oh.

You jest but no.10 role playing off Murray/Hemed would have suited him.

Got to be a wind up!!!

No wind up, never had any quality alongside him in Hyppia days and CH played 4-3-3 when he first took over which didnt suit him. Never as bad technically as people thought, most of his career in La Liga or Spanish equivalent of Championship. Could have done a job in current formation/tactics.
Flame away though.

On a serious note. If there was a 'free agent' what is the rules surrounding this ?

He's free to work where ever he wants.

Which I guess, in theory, any player who is in the last year of their contract and on the edge of the squad, or in the PL's case, not included, ought to now be pushing for a 'walk away' settlement.

Well, as long as we sign someone - anyone - sharpish, even if they're not as good as what we've got or CH doesn't want them. We've simply got to sign someone before our season falls apart and we find ourselves in a relegation struggle. The fact that free agents are generally free agents because nobody wants them must not be allowed to cloud our judgement!

On the other hand, we could just get on and try and win matches with the very decent squad we've got.

Not a bad idea in theory and if it were 'pay per game' that would be an added incentive to stay fit, score goals to get more games.
