To beat it, you want Grass/Electric, so Bulbasaur, Oddish, Bellsprout, Exeggcute, Tangela, Pikachu, Voltorb, Magnemite, Jolteon or Electabuzz, or any of their evolutions would be your best bets.

I've found Lapras in the Thames and in a pond in a country park, so bet bet is to walk a lot near water with a 10km egg!
Thanks Seater. I'm a bit light on grass... / Electric... Will try harder!

Right then. I've got the gist of this now and we now have broken the 1000 cp barrier thanks to a shed load of Eevees near where we went on holiday. God only knows how many good bad or indifferent ones we have but the kids seem to be happy. That said, I'm well chuffed. Pokestops in the juicer keeps everyone happy and is inspired as far as I am concerned.

What's the deal with taking a gym over? Do your Pokemon get injured or taken over if you lose? I can't take the hours of sad faces if Pollyfist dissappears forever when the existing gym holder inevitably wipes the floor with our collection of shite pigeons.

Picked up a Mr. Mime on Church Street this morning. Right outside Dockerills. Presumably he was looking for an invisible door handle.

They don't disappear if you lose, you just have to apply potions to heal them.

When you get a pokemon into a gym, go to shop and click the little '1' in the top right corner, you get 500 stardust and 10 pokecoins as a 'defender bonus' once every 20 hours (or something like that).

Stockpiling the crap ones has its merits; switch on the lucky egg, evolve the garbage ones all at once and move up levels easily.

Had some luck yesterday - I wasn't able to catch them, but managed to evolve a Persian, Graveler and Tentacruel.

If anything, I'm struggling to get the starting Pokemon - I started with Bulbasaur, and apart from that i've caught 6 Squirtles - not even seen Charmander or any of the evolutions. Frustrating as my pokedex looks bare at the top :(

I started with Squirtle and have seen a few since, but have caught a wild Wartortle and Blastoise. I've seen and caught one wild Bulbasaur and one wild Venusaur, but fire-wise I've only seen one Charmander and that ran away before I could catch it.

Nice one. Thank you.

I've had a crazy few days. 2 10k eggs, containing a Magmar and an Omanyte (not the greatest), but also caught my first Pikachu and evolved Growlithe and Jigglypuff:

I know what you mean to an extent - because I only try to catch stuff if its either one I don't have or one I need to help towards an evolution, there are some occasions I'll be logged in for a fair amount of time and not see or catch anything of use.

The OCD element of my personality would never allow me to give up though - gotta catch 'em all!

It's Magikarp, Psyduck and Slowpoke central in this corner of Florida and our best Pokemon reflects that...
