Which unknown Support Act did you see who later went on to become famous

Status quo loads of times at The Big Apple. David Bowie supporting The Groundhogs at The Dome. I'm sure I saw Tom Petty and the heartbreakers as the support act at The Dome circa 1976, but I can't remember who was headlining.

I remember seeing Quo supporting T Rex at the Big Apple; I also remember Bowie as a support act at the Dome around 1969/70 but I think Humble Pie were the headline act? The latter was my second gig ever, the first being LZ at the Toby Jug in Tolworth.

Petty Supported Nils Lofgren at The Dome on 12 May 1977. I think I saw him at The Dome twice. He headlined at The Brighton Centre on 12 Dec 1982. (long after dark tour). I remember being ambivalent about that one at the time. I'd crawl across hot coals to see Petty in concert now!

Yes, you're right.....but now I think more about it, Southside Johnny was the support act for Graham Parker & The Rumour at the Dome around the same time.

You could say Gallgher & Lyle sort of became famous they were also a support act at the same concert

I saw Judie Tzuke supporting Gallagher & Lyle, but I hadn't gone to see Gallagher & Lyle.

I also saw UB40 supporting (I think) the Pretenders at the Top Rank.

Much later saw Keane as a support band, I think to Zero 7.

Other possibilities don't really count as they'd be at festivals. Could I count Santana and Lindisfarne supporting the Beach Boys at Knebworth? (Just spotted unknown in the thread title, so I guess not!)

I saw The Cure supporting Siouxsie And The Banshees at the Brighton Centre late 70s
The Cure were not exactly unknown but obviously went on to be very big.

Seems that the audience at the Dome Supertramp supported by Chris de Burgh and Gallagher & Lyle were all future NSC members. I was there also, and seem to recall that on a later tour Supertramp were supported by Joan Armatrading at the Dome which I saw.
UB40 supporting the Pretenders at the Top Rank. I thought UB40 were rubbish and still do.
