Bollocks the Union have F...d up Commuters for the last few months now it`s football fans....

So it is the RMT's fault that SASTA do not employ enough staff to run their timetable and even more stupidly pick a fight with the staff they do have resulting in nobody wishing to work any overtime to cover staff shortages or that the higher management have pissed off the middle managers so much that they now too refuse to do anything hence even more disruption.

Direct your anger at Charles Horton and his cohorts at SASTA HQ, if you don't nothing will change

Wasn't aware the union had been striking for months. Seems like it was just the last five days.

Please can we keep the blame game to the long thread about it so that the useful information doesn't get lost in the mud-slinging?

No, they can't run enough trains for the number of people who would likely use them, which the police deem a safety issue. By closing Falmer people won't use the trains, which stops the safety issue.
Not quite. It stops the safety issue on the railway (which is what British Transport Police want), but it creates a potential public order and safety issue away from the railway. And I'm sure Sussex Police aren't best pleased about that.

The police should be putting pressure on SASTA to run a service that avoids safety issues everywhere.

Thanks for the clarity. I was going to put BTP in my post, but I wasn't 100% sure it was them that had taken issue and didn't want to accuse them of such.

Why would the police be any more successful than any other non-government body that tries to put any pressure on these complete and utter shysters. They appear to be a law unto themselves.

Just a thought - can we keep this thread to travel issues tonight only as per the title. There is a huge thread for debating the rights and wrongs of the RMT vs Southern dispute.

Is it possible for a mod or Bozza to remove all posts not relevant to the arrangements for the games irrespective of who is to blame and why and post them on the long thread so that this one is kept short and precise to update arrangements as they are made. That would assist us all.

Fair enough. Thread only needed two posts:

1. Insider outlines - via this sticky - the options for fans getting to the game - which he's done
2. Insider outlines - via this sticky - the options for fans getting home from the game - which he hasn't done

It's the club equivalent of, say, M&S providing escalators on the way up so you can buy stuff, then only providing stairs on the way down.

The bit of Insider's original message that hasn't sunk in (at least as far as quite a lot of Albion fans are concerned) is that no trains will be calling at Falmer, despite the fact that trains will be running between Brighton and Lewes.

It's not unreasonable for people to be asking "Why's that?" Inevitably, the question also arises as to who is responsible for that decision. Answering that question isn't casting blame.

And some still think that there is a communication cord which they can pull as the train approaches Falmer and they can bail out needs pointing out that those days are long gone

I think that is all totally irrelevant to what is actually happening as regards arrangements. Those questions can be asked elsewhere on another thread. This is just my opinion and it seems the opinion of others in relation to this thread.

There IS an equivalent THING tho eh ENREST? In fact somebody pulled it at Moulsecoomb in the post-Amex train i was in at the back end of last season because they found themselves in the wrong part of the train. They then walked up to the right part of the train and got off.

To be fair, the club have given the options for getting home. It's all in this release from yesterday.
