This would leave us suspiciously strong at CB though, wouldn't it?

Neurotic NSC: "We are looking very weak at the centre back position with less than two weeks to the opening fixture; why aren't the club working to do something about that?"

Credible reports emerge that Albion have increased their bid for Blackburn Rovers' Shane Duffy to 3.5 million.

Better to be in a position of strength with contingency if we have a further injury or player departure. Let's face it, there's no sign of a return for Uwe and I believe he has only 12 months left on his contract...happy to be corrected if wrong. Or if Stones goes to City for £50m, God knows the spending power of Everton to get a replacement, or even two.

I'd be overjoyed if we went into September with Dunk, Goldson, Uwe, Duffy and Hall. However, I don't think it's neurotic to imagine that the chance of selling Dunk increases if we sign Duffy for over 3.5 million.

I can't believe Duffy would sign to sit on the bench so who would be our first choice pairing if everybody was fit?

Think Hall is one for the future, would be amazed if he was selected at Derby in front of even Bruno at CB .

The fact Duffy would be Albion's record signing of all time seems to be going unnoticed. It wouldn't leave much for a striker.....

That's assuming you know the budget [emoji4].

I've a feeling for the right player we may hit £10m. Who knows.....

Also depends on how bad Rosenoirs injury is also. Small chance he may still be carrying a knock then or if any further injuries happen.

I would think Hunt would come in. I really think Hall would be a last resort.

This is an interview with Duffy published yesterday morning but probably from Tuesday: (ie: before the Mirror reports of our £3.5m bid)

Rovers manager Owen Coyle is keen to keep his first-choice centre-half, especially following the £5.5million departure of Grant Hanley to Newcastle United last week.
Talks between the club and the player’s representatives are ongoing and the Republic of Ireland international says the situation is currently ‘out of his hands’.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It’s down to the representatives; they’re dealing with it and the manager’s trying to push it.
“I’m just happy to be here and I’m happy at this club, so whatever happens otherwise, that’s not in my hands."
