Looks like we are going to be running a training session on Saturday after all so no Prom Run for me.

Meanwhile, I've found another unexpected Marathon issue, namely the temptation to lapse back in to bad habits after it. Diet has gone to pot and lots more booze between football and starting to have folks round for summer socialising. Have put on 2,5 kilos since Brighton which is not good :( .

Therefore decided to have a week off the sauce starting yesterday and finishing on Saturday when I appear to be on the piss with Peter Ward. Running lots of easy paced runs to burn fat. 9 miles round Shoreham yesterday, probably do a couple of 6s this week, then a big LSR on Bank Holiday Monday as I expect Sunday to be a write off.

Ditto. Stomach holding about 2 kilos extra. Decided to have a lay off the booze, as well. Feel so f***** today can't even go for a plod. Lucky for me you're not around Saturday. Things Can Only Get Better.

Kiss Peter Ward for me.

I'm planning on a run tomorrow morning, but don't know where or what distance. My relationship with running is still a bit 'meh' at the moment, but I hope that changes.

I've decided to run Beachy in October too, so I REALLY hope I enjoy running again by then!

Thinking the new post op aerodynamic Knocky won't take long to get back up to speed. Good your back.
I'm out of action till further notice. Got another appointment with Physio tomorrow but no improvement for a week now. If I could manage 50m it would be on strava.

Good luck with that... you won't enjoy running once you've finished it though!

Nonsense ! Think of the sausage rolls [emoji3]

Apologies for the lazy multi-quote post, been busy. Anyway, appears I am into taper time. Dropping to 35 miles or so this week and doing a parkrun. Might revisit Haywards Heath as haven't been there for ages. It's HP time plus 2 mins....got to be better than a sweaty Dubai treadmill I'm stuck with this week

I've heard it's brutal, but then I don't mind the odd hill. I'm not going for any sort of time, either – for me it's all about the experience.

Can't not enjoy Beachy

So I've heard. Meant to be one of the best marathons in the country, isn't it? Who's doing it from here?

On the ocean wave
Back up & running after 3-4 months with niggling achilles. Back home for a little while & enjoying getting out & about. 10k's are slower than before, (around 53 mins at the moment, not too bad for 55 though), just love being back at it though.
Off out along Shoreham Beach then across to the footpath along the Adur.
Feeling positive.

It's tough, but overall elevation is similar to Stinger, Three Forts - main difference with Beachy is the concentration of hills in the last 6 miles which properly kicks you in the balls so just save a bit as you're bounding along the first 20m thinking 'what's all the fuss about'.......the atmosphere before, during and after is brilliant. Definitely don't worry about a time, just enjoy it, it's a fantastic experience. I might be there, depends on other stuff.

Yes it is... its a great run.. I might do it, but I've done it for the last 3 years and got my sub 4 so I might give it a miss this year.. But yes its certainly a run to enjoy

Any dcisions from the NSC collective around Park Run Saturday? My likely destination is Hove Prom where I'll be aiming to get back to sub 19 in prep for Worthing the week after.

Some lovely running conditions of late and I've been pretty consistent with 3 runs per week covering around 20 miles.

What's up? Quoting dazzer6666

I've had on going hamstring issues which have been slow to improve but were manageable. I then aggravated my IT band on the same leg which again isn't that unusual and something I can normally manage. But after running over Beachy Head (good luck October runners) the other week I couldn't put any pressure on my leg without pain running up my behind my knee and into my gluteus. Same pain happened when I lifted off. Physio thinks I have tendinitis of knee combined with IT and hamstring. I managed to get on the cross trainer yesterday without too much pain but no where near running yet.

Sorry to hear that. At least you got some good races in leading up to it. If you want a second opinion/investigation you could try Jesus, sort of thing he likes to get his fingers into to find the root cause/causes. You've been carrying the hamstring since the Three Forts, I believe. Good luck and enjoy the rest for recovery.

Thanks, could you give me your saviours number? Don't think it could hurt getting another take on it.

01273 731262 gets reception at Coral's Gym, at the greyhound Stadium ,then ask for an appointment for Paul GODley. £40.
Good luck.

FORTY now is it? I thought he'd be off for a few weeks in Barbados or getting a new Lexus with the pre-marathon business. Instead it's up a fiver!

(Totally worth it though, fixed my calf problems in 20 minutes and the only man I'd go to when I need to get back on the road)
