No, I was asking why you feel Turkey will enter the EU following a behind closed doors between Cameron and the EU. I don't understand how this would arise and would be grateful for clarification.

Most countries do not have enough control over their borders and the UK is clearly in the majority so I disagree with anyone who says our controls are adequate. I think the previous poster was referring to Schengen but even if he wasn't I wouldn't hold his views in contempt. Perhaps I am a less angry person than you.
To be honest, I don't hold very much in contempt. For example I disagree with the chap on here who blamed the EU for the UK's de-industrialisation (breath again Mrs Thatcher) and called me a lemon when I asked why he was so critical but I don't hold him in contempt.
Two quick questions - do you feel that the EU has been responsible for the withering of manufacturing in the UK, and is 'lemon' now the Brexiters' favourite name-call? I notice you also use it to describe people who disagree with you. Just curious. I used to own a Citroen known as a lemon so I don't mind it.

It's a price having to be paid because of the refugee crisis. Visa free travel is massively different to full membership. Unfortunately this is realpolitik, they deal with refugees we pay them off. This is how actual politics works, Brexiter fantasy politics (sorry) is where your position is the only correct one and the laws of politics, and perhaps gravity, have to bend around it. For example "we can leave the EU but retain full access to the single market but we DON'T have to have free movement" because "they need us as much as we need them and we are equal partners".
That's not how it works. Turkey has some political capital and is using it.

For me the whole in / out issue was settled yesterday afternoon when I watched England legends vs. Germany legends rather than suffer the inevitability of northern monkey premier leaguers Burnley going up.
It was basically a team of Jen Lehman, Michael Ballack, Hans Moller and Dietmarr Hamman vs. Russel Howard and some people from Towie as far as I could tell.
The Huns were Seven nil up before 20 minutes were up and the commentators were saying how the organisers had asked the Germans to take some of our washed up comedians and actors into their team to even things up, as it was a charidee match but had REFUSED because zey vaunted to vin at all costs fur der vaderland.
I mean, come on. How can you want to be in a club with that lot? Ballack was saying " ve dont even know who half ov zee Englanders team are" miserable krauts.

...and on the subject of visa-free travel it is worth mentioning that almost all the citizens of three of the world's continents can already come to Britain without a visa. No one's suggesting that Argentina is about to join the EU.

Maybe the EU should learn from us how to control visa-free travel and where to apply visa controls.We don't refuse people entry for no reason.On another point you raised,of course Charles Dunstone supports Remain-he is one of the Camerons best mates in the 'Chipping Norton Set' and Samantha would never forgive him if he became a beastly outer!Anyway,he's not known as being a steadfast supporter of anything,having supported all the main political parties at one time or another.

Perhaps the Remain aficionados participating in this thread can explain why the EU is going to spend €4.5 Billion of European tax payers money in the coming years to help Turkey meet the necessary entry criteria .... if it is not going to happen?
The UK will have to pay £1.8 Billion over seven years to help the next wave of countries (Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia,Turkey) join the EU, Turkey getting the biggest share.

I don't know where you got those figures from, but if you can look past your nose you might see that it is in our interest to have a democratic and prosperous European neighborhood.

Oh well, never mind. I thought the founder of the Carphone Warehouse might have been supporting our membership of the EU because he thought membership of the EU might be worth supporting. And now? And now it's been explained to me that the only possible reasons for such an opinion are (a) he's a greedy sod with his snout in the trough and (b) he doesn't want to upset Samantha. Life's so disapponting.
