Hang on, we play these major championships (the Euros and the World Cup) every two years IF we qualify. Right now the Euros are the biggest tournament we can be involved in. Yet an England fan (the use of "we" suggests you are) wants us to go out as early as possible so that we can do what exactly? Learn our lesson for the sure-to-be-bent World Cup of 2018?

I want us to win the f***ing thing and I don't care if he recalls Steven Gerrard if we do.
Whilst I admire your entiments and intentions, we won't. We are not good enough and will not be for some years to come.

Saw the thread title and number of pages and assumed the England team celebration for beating the T20 world champions earlier today had maybe got out of hand.

Pleased to see that the thread was just another footie opinion discussion themed around yet another BG comment.

It would seem TSB still hasn't bounced enough threads of people looking like nimrods, having made bold statements a few months earlier.

I find it hard to believe any Englishman with an interest in sport, would be a curmudgeon in the albeit unlikely event, of England doing well.

Were Greece? By definition they had to be good enough to win it as they did, but I'd suggest we're better than they were...

Either way, not the strongest squad tonight but when else is The Hodgson going to experiment if not a friendly?

But Greece knew their limits and played accordingly. In order to progress in a tournament we'll have to win at least one game, and if that happens we'll suddenly think we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen, and we'll try and Brazil 1970 everyone.

I haven't read the thread but I am quite interested in this squad. At least it's not the usual has been old losers that we normally choose. Looking forward to an England game for a change.

Who is this mythical 'we' though? I don't know anyone that thinks in that way regarding the national side and even the media are warier than they used to be.

The accusation of the national side/nation getting carried away just doesn't seem to ring true any more.

Just wait until we win a knockout game in a major tournament.

He's paid more than any other international manager in the world, if he can't work out a way to experiment and get Vardy and Kane playing together then we deserve absolutely nothing in our international campaigns, literally Welbeck out wide lmfao.
