That's not exactly true and you probably should look up the actual laws as they're staggered depending on the age of the adult in question. I think off hand it's something like 14 if your 18 or below, the consent age rises with the age of the adult so it's 16 at 21 or over. Something like that anyway, but for those examples above, he'd still be guilty in those countries.

Ridiculously long sentence for a crime that very many young men commit. What is the benefit of putting him in prison for that long? His career is already ruined, I am sure he has learnt his lesson. Wouldn't six months have done the job?

What shall we do with our justice system, just scrap sentencing guidelines as someone lost their good job and learned their lesson!? Glad it wasn't you daughter I suppose, although I know the stock answer to that will be 'my daughter would never do a thing like that' and there in a nut shell we still have a society that all too easily reverts to 'she was game for it...'.severnside gull

Frankly sickened by the apologists on here. Clearly some people don't understand morality or social responsibility let alone long-term grooming, the control it seeks to exert, and the mental harm it can do. A child's life could be irreparably harmed, she has already attempted to take her life, but never mind as long as some minor celebrity gets his rocks off it must be the law that's at fault.
He's not a young man. And he's shown no ****ing remorse.

The sentence probably is a reflection of how long the judge thinks Johnson needs, to be able to address his offending.
If he attends all the courses convinces the psychologists he's been rehabilitated he could be out in 3.
But if he feels he's been hard done by, and doesn't co operate he'll just serve the full 6 years.
Personally I feel he should never be released if the parole board feel he could still re offend.

Came on this thread expecting to agree that this sentence is too short, JESUS CHRIST some people are saying its too long.
He knew what he was doing and did it. The situation doesn't matter, he did it and should have got many more years, do we want people like him on the streets?
