I was delayed over two hours on Saturday - first a train cancellation meant an hour at Southampton, then some tosser wandering about on the line at Angmering caused all power to be shut off. That was only about 50 minutes but SASTA decided to make it worse by cancelling the train after Worthing. Such talent for causing chaos and making bad situations worse.

Warning for those who may be creative with their delay repays as I said a while back

http://media.btp.police.uk/r/12523/sussex_commuters_sentenced_after_bogus_compensati

Those sentences are absolutely amazing. It's no wonder the prisons in this country are pretty much all bursting at the seems if magistrates and judges are given sentencing guidelines as harsh as that. Can't speak of the other companies but Southern only very recently changed the wording on their delay repay site to make you check a box to say you had actually been on the service you were claiming for. I'm sure it was quite possibly in the small print prior to this but with services out there such as delay repay sniper it's hardly any wonder people abused it. Custodial sentence suspended or not seems a very harsh punishment for a couple of grand.

The easiest way Southern can prevent others doing this is to a run a service that works. I've pointed this out to numerous ticket office staff who have moaned at me when I've redeemed a whole wadge of vouchers in one hit.

Incidentally I got fed up with Southern not paying out for delays or so I thought so I started a spread sheet which I update each time claim (sad ****er I know!). In 14 months I've been doing it I've successfully claimed £364.80 so it's worth doing.

For those of you who like a read then I suggest you check out Martin Harbottles appreciation of time (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Martin-Harb...keywords=martin+harbottles+appreciate+of+time). It's fiction but regular commuters will be able to relate to a lot of the story. The author has clearly been a commuter in his time.

Brilliant - the 15.50 Brighton train is only 4 carriages. Gatwick Express has been cancelled and staff been telling anyone that wants Coastway to get on 15.50. Absolute carnage

Same with all corporate/big business fraud, stick a harsh sentence up to deter others

Currently lurching through Thornton Heath at a snail pace.

Nothing from the guard, nothing at all. We are already 15 mins and not at East Croydon yet.

Silent guards drive me nuts - at least give us poor sods a clue........

Caught the 18.10 Littlehampton service from London Bridge. Got a seat, left on time......couldn't last could it. Broken down train and signal problems after Gatwick, delays 45 mins according to the guard, who got his information 'from the internet'.

Now an incident between Lewes and Seaford !

While I was waiting for a train from Preston park to Burgess Hill about 2pm today they announced that the westbound line had been snookered by some kind of line blocking shit between Shoreham and Hove, buses accepting train tickets blah blah etc. So basically the SASTA tvvats managed this afternoon, via a pincer movement from all three directions, to completely cut off B&H from the rest of the region. They really are beneath contempt.

I've got a 9.30 meeting in Aldgate tomorrow that I am hosting. Thinking about setting off now to make sure I am there in time

It's got to the point whereby if I'm flying from Gatwick, I'll get a train from Preston Park about four hours before my flight time, even though its only supposed to be half an hour up the track. Just don't trust these buggers an inch anymore and always factor in the likelihood of them up-furking. Which they will do given half a chance, anytime you rely on them to get you anywhere that is time-critical, no matter how pitifully straightforward the journey.
