Not entirely sure it's not rigged tho. Lord Bracknell appeared to have already bagged the spot second from right ???

Indeed. Hope everything is okay - looks to be having a bit of a row with Dave the Gaffer and Scotty Mac.

I just think it sets a precedent and becomes expected. I appreciate what he has done for us in the past 5 years being very well paid in the process, but see no reason to hold such an event. My attitude may change if he had been with us for his entire career but like all footballers he has no great allegience to us and is just following the £ as shown by his talking with Southampton who presumably didnt offer as much as us. This is not a knock or slight on Calderon but is relevant to all footballers. They have a very well paid job.

I live in Australia and even I know that Calde has gone above and beyond what is expected of a player in the local community, your community.

Sure plenty of players have played for the club longer, but not many of them have given back to the team and fans and community in general as he has. And he's done it all despite coming from a foreign culture with a small grsp of English to start with.

Yes. Yes there is. Numbers will be strictly limited to 13 and they'll all have to sit on the same side of the table.

Perhaps @BG will have a change of heart and he can pay with 30 pieces of Silver..

Now feeling a little guilty about the marathon post!

The Mrs and I organise events every now and again for our school PTA and in conjunction with my son's Cubs pack (mostly quizzes) and I'm on the tournament committee for my son's football team. The last quiz we did at school had over 30 people attend (it's a tiny one form intake) but the two that couldn't make it bitched all over Facebook and the school. I'm also going to be doing one for the Cubs on 26 Feb. This has already been postponed once from 5 Feb due to sodding Sky moving the Brentford game. No sooner had we confirmed the new data then I had an email from work saying i MIGHT have a meeting in Peterborough that day. God knows what'll happen if I do as no one can agree on a back up date. Meanwhile, the football tournament's date took up most of our first sub committee meeting and was subsequently changed on Facebook. That's THREE events for the parents' of nine year olds FFS.

Meanwhile, anyone saying Calde doesn't deserve this has had their brain washed out with bleach.

I think thats incredibly harsh and a massive dig at.Calderon not as a player but as a man. If he had no real allegiance to us as you put it, he.would gladly train, play and do the minimum community work required by his contract.
Instead he.constantly puts himself forward for the good of the club and for albion in the community.
Surely you must see that

I think that I must point out that this is nothing whatsoever against Calderon as I do not think that any player should receive this and in fact the only man who should doesnt need it, TB without whom The Amex would never have been built and BHA would possibly no longer exist. If others think differently that is there perogative.

As ever, you completely miss the entire POINT.

Of course Tony Bloom does not NEED such a night. Kuipers didn't NEED one either, and nor does Calderon. A group of fans WANT to arrange this to show in person their appreciation for everything they feel he has contributed to our club, and our town.

I think you should just quit this thread, tbh. You have nothing of worth to add to it.

As I said I disagree with. ANY player receiving such an occassion as I did with FDM and Dick Knight. There you go it is just my opinion.

But, this is all that is happening: A group of fans feel they want to say 'Thank You' to a player who THEY feel has gone above and beyond.

What gives you the 'right' to dictate that they should not feel that way, and that this shouldn't happen?

This thread is not about you. You've made your point several times over.

Do you think Calderon is going to be getting money for attending ?

I really cannot think why you are so against this event happenning.

It worries me that next season, should we get promoted, somebody feels obliged to do the same for BZ because of his goals or DS because of his saves without which we wouldnt have got promotion.

And if they do, and the player is happy to attend and people are willing to attend then who gives a shit?

On the contrary, should we get promoted this season I'm sure the club will have an evening to celebrate and appreciate all those involved. Players, coaching staff and Albion staff in general. Would that worry you?
