Now we have the Lancing set up we will see loads of guys and girls going through the system and we will make good decisions and bad decisions and some players will make it elseware. Spurs let go a certain 18+year (Scotsman )old player to Middlesbourgh who then signed for Liverpool a bit like Dean Saunders to Oxford and later went to Liverpool and wasn't Ian Wright to small and rejected by Brighton and went to Palace and the rest is history. I am sure we going to release many more players who don't make it it's the name of the game.

So what can we conclude ? None of us have heard of him, but some judge already.

If the club believe he has huge potential then sign him. We'll enjoy watching his progress.

We've had too many of these exciting young foreign prospects go on to do absolutely diddly squat so I just can't get excited anymore.Playing international football is no indicator either, if it's for a shit country. Maksimenko was a full international for Latvia and still got nowhere near our first team.

Agdestein got called up to the Norway U21s and now finds himself in his home country's second tier.

No doubt this guy is being shipped in to replace Hambo as our latest Scandinavian prospect who'll do precisely nothing until 2/3 years down the line when his contract is terminated by mutual consent once everyone has forgotten about him.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate that these gambles have to be taken as if you turn down the opportunity to sign the next big thing before they're big, you'll be kicking yourself when they go on to be worth astronomical fees. It's just that I can't think of any examples of young foreign talent we've ever profited from.

If we ever make money on foreign players it's from established players who've been plucked from relative obscurity and managed to flourish with us, like Ulloa or... Come to think of it, have we turned a profit on any other foreign players we've brought in ever?

There is no point in putting together a state of the Art Academy and training facilities and having no players with potential in it.

That's obviously what the Club and the Manager are trying to do now. Bring a lot of the best potential youngsters from around Europe and the world to fill the Academy. Provide them with good facilities and coaches and then hopefully bring the best ones through in years to come.

It is very short sighted to dismiss these kids so readily . The club and the Chairman are trying to build for the future and YES SURE, a lot won't make the grade but at least we know the club are trying to give the fans a Premiership club for the future where we have a chance of competing against the best.

I'm going to our U21 game tomorrow as it's in Crawley. I wonder if he will feature if he did sign? Probably a bit early.

Said this time and time again. Our U21's is the Bermuda triangle. Players just vanish.

It is January is it not

I am not 100% sure of the rules but I think if he's in the last 6 months of his contract he can negotiate with other clubs and agree a move for the end of the contract. If his current club have offered him a new deal that is at least as good as his current one then we'll have to sort out compensation as he's under 24.

2 of them became first team regulars, several others gone on to play regular league football for other teams. I would think that is about average for any team.
