Good to see the religion of peace is still peaceful

I was interested to see where you got this spin on the author being something to do with the Catholic church, so I had a quick read up, please read and engage keyboard before emboldened statements.
What? You posted a link to http://www.catholiceducation.org so I thought that had something to do with the Catholic church. Does it not?

I don't think you can really claim that Hitler persecuted the Jews in the name of Christianity. In the same way as it can't be said that ISIS represent all Muslims.
As far as I'm aware he was a Christian, and I've not seen anything here to suggest otherwise. He wanted to rid the world of Jews who, by definition, weren't Christians. He said he did things in the name of god. It seems pretty similar to me.

Why do you think he wanted all Jews, including children, to be killed?

apologies I meant Islam derived from the word Salam which in turn translated to mean "peace" and/or "safety. is that better ?

No it isn't, its an absolutist faith that doesn't allow interpretation for convenience. Its means submission to God and the only extension of that is what is written in the Koran, the word of god delivered by Allahs messenger.

But just because a man is a christian with a small c, doesn't make the actions carried out in the name of Christianity. Hitler also wanted to kill Gypsy's and the disabled, was that done in the name of Christianity too?

Yep, but two different words. I've seen the translation of Islam to Peace too many times. Mainly Muslims telling non Muslims the wrong translation.

possibly yes, but doesn't stop the op and other media's outlets stating "the religion of peace proves they're all just murderers" and I'm sure I've read on here that "it can't be translated any other way" so how come,as you've pointed out, allot of Muslims miss interpret what ,according to claims by non muslims, can't be mistranslated!

To sugarcoat it, that's why.

The word "lived"or "live" looks like it could have derived from devil and "evil", but it doesn't. :)

Muslims will also insist that Jihad just means "inner struggle" but there are multiple forms of Jihad including "Jihad of the Sword."

I haven't seen non Muslims saying Islam can't be mistranslated.

p.s. I don't agree with the op's view and I haven't seen reputable media outlets saying "the religion of peace proves they're all just murderers"

Beheadings are a problem.
Sexual assaults are a problem.
Destruction of historical sites is a problem.
Mislabelling all people of one faith as history hating, machete loving rapists is, believe it or not, also a problem.

That last one, by the way, is our problem. Not theirs.

I would question what you have written on two accounts. The vast majority on here is, joking aside and allowing for all our funny little obsessions, clearly articulate and intelligent, and as such I have yet to see anyone write that they consider that all people of one faith are machete etc etc, as you claim. Everyone knows that the atrocities are committed by a minority of fanatics.

You state that that it is our problem - labelling all people of other faiths as whatever, is, I would suggest, far more likely to be done by muslims than the host community here. We infidels are never going to be good enough to marry muslim girls, are we?

What does it mean for something to be 'in the name of...'? Who decides if it's in the name of?

The murders claiming to be killing in the name of Allah, are not actually carrying out god's will, they are idiots. I think Hitler claimed some of his actions were in the name of god too, but I don't judge a religion on the actions of some of the idiots using its name.

fair enough, I was trying to say the media jump on the "religion of peace" tag as much as Muslims, but obviously for different reasons. As for "can't be translated any other way" I was referring to an earlier post on here that said (something along the lines of) "servant to god and his word only,so they won't ever change and believe in what they're doing"(implying they're all nutnuts)

All I see in Islam is a religion that makes people pray 5 times a day and brainwashes children to do the same. Some will use it as a connection to God, but others, like ISIS and all the other extreme groups can justify themselves because they are leading their lives like their warlord hero Muhammad.

The only blood on Jesus hands was because nails were driven through them. We can emulate the life of Jesus without issue even if we don't believe in God. The same cannot be said for Muhammad.

No, you are not wrong. I was merely intending to illustrate that there are good and bad in each community, group or whatever for the most part. Anjem Choudaty studied in Southampton many years ago (he is now 46 - I just googled him). has he had anything to do with the City or anyone in it over the last 20 or 25 years? I have absolutely no idea. I do, though, know plenty of decent Muslims in Southampton and surrounding areas.

This, in spades. Judging people based on the fact that they share a religion with extremists is moronic.

Honestly I think both "parties" have their share to do. All about integration and acceptance and all that happy stuff.

Agreed, just as moronic as telling people who detest the extremists they must also hate all muslims therefore they are racists
