Is Hemed any good?

As Brian Clough simply put it "I pay you to score goals" when talking to his centre forward in training. Hemed doesnt score goals and seems to b0e another cms, but not quite a bad. Just a shame our "football people" at the albion didnt think Murray was much cop a few years ago. Goes to show what they knew about football as most fans knew he striker. Same goes for centre backs, let two go and they play premier league and the ones we keep are not as good. We are a side with a very good midfield but poor centre backs and nothing up front.

Poor centre backs? Granted they had a bad game v Middlesborough, but most Championship sides would jump at getting Greer, Dunk, Uwe and Goldson for their first choice and back-ups. Agree we need more up front though - I like Tomer and there's plenty to his game but a striker needs to be scoring more than he is at the moment.

Okay, I'll bite...

6 in 21(1) with 3 assists. Another CMS? Are you comparing him to the useless CMS we had last season or the one who was on form in 2012? Both would be wrong, so it doesn't matter regardless. Hamed's contribution is most comparable to Barnes when looking at stats, so his stick makes sense because Ashley was also harshly misjudged into bring useless.

Don't ever remember Bremner getting any stick, solid striker who was the perfect foil for Nelson and also got a fair few goals.
Hemmed needs a spell out the team, not convinced at all by him and out of the goals he has scored except the penalty I can't think of a clean strike which has gone straight in.He does sometimes show great skill though when turning defenders.

Bremner DID get some stick, notably in the fanzines around at the time, but the Nelson/Bremner combo is one of the best partnerships we've had. Hemed has never been part of a settled pairing so has to be judged on his own. So far he's put in the effort but for little reward. This needs to change soon......

I believe that Hemed was bought as a decent Championship striker, and that is what he is. I really don't believe anyone, from Tony Bloom down to the fans had an inkling that we'd be at the top, and pushing for automatic promotion halfway through the season. That is why I believe there will have been a reevaluation of what we need to sustain this challenge, and why I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a top quality striker acquired in January. Injuries may have forced our hand in other areas, like LB, but with a fully fit squad, if we really want to challenge for top two, it is obvious to everyone, from Bloom down, that we currently don't quite have the firepower

This is the case although our goals scored stat is not too shabby at all. Hemed is doing OK and probably well for the wage we are paying him.

I've never been so on the fence with a player. Normally by now I either like them or not. With Hemed I just don't know. Ca look good, can look average. I'm edging towards thinking he is an average Championship player.

Not a great finisher but very good at hold up play. Will be a key squad member this season (already is). And has been involved in a lot of goals - scoring and assists. Glad we signed him tbh, don't get some of the negativity - to compare him to any of last seasons strikers is an utter joke - he's streets ahead....

From what I've seen I'd say good league one striker. We now know that is what baldock is , and baldock is more effective than hemed.

Possibly one of the most one dimensional & black and white quotes ever spouted out in football. Especially the modern game. If you believe that is all a striker should do, you have very strange views. Utter tosh quote.

here hare here
for me he is CMS2 in the fantastic work rate, poor return sense. i do, however, feel he's the type of player who could go on a goal per game streak for a while - that is just a feeling though and it may be based more on hope than expectation.

In your opinion. However, In real reality, this isn't the case. I've already provided plenty of stats (which is quantitive data) which disproves your crazy claims.

Not sure how it's crazy to say hemed is more or less the same standard as baldock from what we've seen. Baldock has ripped it up in league one but never done that much at a higher level.
lOf course as a lifelong seagull I hope your stats one day bear fruit. It's possible hemed is a confidence player and will get going, then again I thought that after Charlton game.
If you're not generally disappointed by him given his international pedigree than fair play. I just say it as I see it. I was hoping for new ulloa, expecting at least a dominant target man. Yet what I see is no better than Cog in his brief decent run of form.

No, it's what you're seeing. Most people disagree. Staristics disagree. I disagree. To say he's no better than O'Grady or League One standard is an absolute disgrace and the biggest misjudgment of character I've seen on here for a long time. You're now comparing him to Baldock, another completely different type of player. Make your mind up FFS!

If you're proved right and he comes good I'll be delighted . But come on , hemed doesn't do anything game after game. Cog did alright for a brief spell. Have you forgotten that?

As for stats - didn't we have 70% of possession against boro ? Forgive me if it was 68.7538% . My point being that Stats in football are overdone.

Also as for baldock- yep, different players. But both league one fodder. Good luck to you with the blue and white tinted spectacles . Fortunately I don't think tony bloom wears them
