If I had a bike for each time I've come down Crossbush causeway (the scenic route to Arundel) as a car grinds to a halt and then a camera appears out of the driver side window.
I'd had my own bike shop.

Except for the beautiful approach being spoilt by The Beefeater with its exterior plaster crumbling off, boarded up window and unkempt garden, I'd agree, bl00dy eyesore it is!

I'd say:

Start at the Lake District, drive around the views & overnight good pub B & B.
Maybe travel back via North Wales, bit of Snowden
Down across to Cheltenham & Bath
Back across into London sights
Down to Arundel (Castle, Cricket Ground, Arundel by Candlelight first Sat of Dec (may be too early?) meal in Town House or La Campania)

The imperial war museum Falklands war exhibit? Lots of pics of their soldiers surrendering and sitting under blankets shivering. I remember going into a Militaria shop in Liverpool years ago and the owner was showing a punter an Argentinian helmet with a bullet hole in it and blood all over the straps. Wouldnt you do better to take them to a decent pub that doesnt stink of disinfectant splashed around the toilets.

The Battle of Trafalgar is a far better pub with decent beer and I am sure there must be many more in Brighton far better in every respect than the Evening Star that I am unaware of.

I will no doubt try it but to be fair I very rarely go in pubs now as they offer no fascination for me and are too expensive even those that specialise in food so I prefer to go out less often and go to a restaurant for a meal and bottle of wine.
