So moves to bitter rivals. Charming guy.

Didn't know he played for Tottehham!

As for the £5 grand, what we don't know is what he may have been offered by Chelsea? It was also suggested that Arsenal had reneged on the £60k deal. I don't like the guy but if my employers had verbally agreed to £60k and then droppred that £5k I'd be disappointed.

We are talking about the same Ashley Cole, aren't we?

The same age as Bobby.
Played (albeit only 11 times) for Roma last season.
Capped 107 times for England.
Has 16 major honours to his name.
11 'team/player of the year' awards.
Widely regarded as Roberto Carlos' successor in world football.

And we're talking about the same Brighton & Hove Albion who started the season with:-

Adam Chicksen as the only natural replacement left back.

hahaha you'll turn down £780,000 out of loyalty to your currently employer who is actually trying to stiff you out of the £780,000.

Mug.

Haha.

My heart bleeds. What a ****ing victim....

I guess you're a chelsea fan per chance? Don't take it personally, it's only football and footballers, and they don't care about you that much. Even your Ash.

I dont think you could be further from the mark. I just think Stat Brother, doesnt feel the need to jump on the bandwaggon of slagging one player off, when its clearly a problem in football not just him.

I'd suggest you keep you ill informed snidey remarks to yourself in future.

Ah so my flippant character assessment of you was actually correct, what are the chances.

I thought I just asked him a question, regardless of my spiteful tone - that was just a retort for being called a mug. Which is fair enough.

Anyone suggesting Ashley Cole is not good enough for the Championship clearly has a screw loose

Almost as much as those that think he will sign for us.

I'm always amazed at how certain players like Ashley Cole get all the stick for being a 'bell-end', 'mercenary' or 'thicko'.

Because, in case you'd been asleep for the past 30 years, football is wall-to-wall with knobheads like Ashley Cole.

The fact is this: you give a novice knobhead an obscene amount of money and quickly he becomes a turbo knobhead.

For all you know, the Albion development squad may have a number of knobheads-in-waiting, just like Cole, but the fact is, they're not high profile (or rich) enough to make the newspapers.

Picking on him in this way seems senseless and arbitrary.

He was one of the few world class English players in the last 10 years or so.

I have no idea what kept him out of the Roma side but if he still has the desire I would imagine he would make a decent addition to many mid to lower PL squads and a superb addition to any Championship team. Also if he was on €45k a week for Roma, I imagine that he would sign for around £20k a week plus bonuses.

Agree with your first point.

But you think he'd take a huge pay cut to come to us after what it's believed he earned at Roma? Why do you think that, do you know him or his agent or something?

This. Would be an amazing signing.

This....I don't think there's a cat in hells chance Cashley will be coming to the Amex. And if that is the case this thread has probably been a waste of space.

I wrote imagine but I could have written guess. We will obviously never know either way.

Money's not important to Ashley is it?

‘When I heard Jonathan Barnett (player’s agent) repeat the figure of £55K, I nearly swerved off the road. "He (former Arsenal Director David Dein) is taking the piss Jonathan!" I yelled down the phone. I was so incensed. I was trembling with anger. I couldn’t believe what I’d heard.’
