He came to us when released by Chelsea as young centre back but has never played a competitive game there other than as youth. I am biased I know but dont think he is now or ever will be good enough.for a championship side, especially one with aspirations of promotion.

And as usual you're wrong

I tend to look at his perfomance differently in that other than the league cup games as only come on as a sub in the closing stages to shut the door. Therefore I viewed his perfomance akin to a loan player who has been beought in but needs match fitness to show full ability. However unless either of starting 2 are out for a lengthy period we wont see the higher performance which he is capable of

Match fitness, if you're in he squad, on the bench, training with the first team, in your twenties, being paid £5,000+ per week, have the resource of our club behind you and want to progress your career and take every opportunity afforded to you, then make no excuses. he looked disinterested and out his depth yesterday. I cannot except any excuse for a profession athlete no being ready when he is in the squad, whilst the OP suggestion hat he needs to improve or move on is harsh, its very accurate.

I and many others expected more from him yesterday.

You clearly don't play the game or understand it.
At ANY level of football you need 2 or 3 full games to reach match speed/fitness. Desperate luck that Stephens & Kayal both out same day leaving too big an unfit hole to fill

Hmmmm, it took Kayal how long to make an impact? This is the Championship, not a Sunday League affair, he's in the squad he should be ready.

Aren't DS games to keep players fit enough to slot into the first team when required? If fringe players like Ince aren't ready to play, what's the point in having a Development Squad?

No right or young just an opinion. You think he is the best thing since sliced bread if so I would prefer uncut bread.

He has proved he's is good young talent time and time again. Clambering to put him down is stupid.

A young player who makes his first start for a while, mainly due to the form of the previous incumbents, to receive such comments, to me shows a lack of understanding of the game.

More worrying for me currently is the form of another young player who has made plenty of errors in the last few games, and that's Dunk. I would not however question his undoubted ability.

I'm not sure he was as bad as people are saying, just he wasn't as good as what we have been watching in midfield - but that has been really good!

Awful yesterday. Yes, there are a lot of reasons for it. Lack of 90 mins, lack of partnership with Crofts (team has been all about partnerships this season) and the fact he sits in front of a back 4 much better than being an up and down CM. BUT. It really isn't wrong to suggest his time with us may be limited.

Unless we are going to play with a midfield 5 regularly in The Championship he is not going to start unless there are injuries. If we don't go up there's nothing to suggest we should change the 4-4-2 approach as we will certainly be in the mix. If we do go up? Can you honestly imagine us playing with Crofts and Ince as 2 CMs? Preston found them out, Imagine that against Man City.

Ince has only played one DS match this season.

He is now 22 and should be pushing for first team spot but showed yesterday that he isnt ready for consideration, so the question remains will he ever at this level or should he drop down a division,, at the moment I am not sure of the answer, Perhaps a months loan somewhere in Div 1. I noticed Dean Hammond has gone on loan to Sheff Utd from Leicester with a view to making it permanent..

I browse NSC on my phone and so I can't see who posts what. The funny thing is whenever I read one of your posts I know you're the author. So many cliches and 'I know what I'm talking about but not really' sentences.

DS games don't play with the pace, intensity or aggression of the championship. As said before match fitness is not the same as gym fitness. It takes a couple of full games to get up to speed. Just look at March

I agree about Dunk. He's always struck me as a player who's confidence is fairly fragile. I guess he needs to play regularly to build up his confidence. However with Hunemeier and Greer he may be the one to drop to the bench at the moment.

Like I said earlier, the main danger will be not getting up against teams in the lower regions of this division.
You don't just turn up and win.
Still happy with season so far though.

I am afraid to say that Ince looked like a centre half playing in midfield , I really used to rate him when he first came but he seems to have gone backwards

Any time the ball is played to Ince I am not 100% confident he will control it and pass it to one of our players.

That's not great for a player who's job as a DM is to control and pass it.

Whilst i agree with that, I dont remember him losing the ball much on saturday, unlike Mr Crofts.

What it really tellls us is we could probably just about get away with being without Kayal or Stephens for the odd game, but both out together and we are screwed.

Its made my love for Kayal and Stephens even stronger than it was

I didn't see him play at the weekend, but I'm not going to write him off based on one performance.
