Maybe we didn't want to pay a huge loan fee where as Reading would/could?

Probably, though looking at our business this window the Vydra 'deal' just doesn't seem to fit to me in how we're spending our money.

The Calleri one does, but I'm still not convinced that this one was no more than a polite inquiry and thats all.

Could be wrong though.

Leo. Rhodes. Crouch. Matt Smith.
Perhaps not better overall players, but better for what we need.
Plus hundreds of foreigners that I've never heard of.

Rhodes who would cost way over £10m. Ulloa who's been linked with Palace for £10m. Crouch who's probably on stupid money, and Matt Smith who's record doesn't come close to Vydra.

Matt Smith would be the only 'attainable', and isn't as good as Vydra. If he was 'prolific' he'd have scored one of the 6 or 7 very good chances he had against us a few weeks ago.

If we're offloading a big, hold-up man, the least likely scenario is to then sign a little nipper.
Suspect we withdrew interest.

And with the possibility of Colunga now coming back into first team contention.

All those four are attainable. All would realistically score more goals in our team than Vydra, Smith did miss some great chances against us, but everyone has an off game.
Let's face it, though: we cannot guarantee a starting place to any loan player this season. That'll be what they all want.

With the exception of Rhodes who has mobility and Crouch to a lesser extent, I would say the others are similar to what we already have.

Disagree.

Middlesbrough bid £13m for Rhodes, and Blackburn refused to let him speak to them (supposedly as they are in the same division). I don't think £13m+ is attainable for us. No way.

If we're considering spending £7+ million on an Argentinian gamble, I'd say it is. If 'Boro (smaller crowds, less wealthy, much higher wages already etc) can afford that...

Though it has been mooted that he's on £30,000 pw so we'd have to bring that down a tad.

None of us really know the ins and outs of the saga, or indeed other transfers. Personally, I would have thought that someone of his pace would be ideal to work off Hemed, as also Sam Baldock increasingly seems able to do, and would be disappointed if the club is looking for someone else on the cheap. But, I do accept that I don't really know. Just wondering.

I cant see Bloom spending £2 mill on a year long loan, we don't even spend that on transfers.
