I must get round to writing a few reviews of some cracking new albums out, in particular Gwenno (former Pipettes singer with a Welsh language solo album) and also Ezra Furman - both are probably going to make a lot of Best Of lists at the year end.

In the meantime, here's the first single from New Order's upcoming album. This is fresh off the press, it was only uploaded an hour or so ago.

I really can't get on with Ezra Furman - it's just noise (as Alan Partridge would say). I thought the Gwenno album was a bit weird - all the tracks sounded like Low's "Will The Night" (Songs For A Dead Pilot version) until I realised there was something wrong with my speakers. Now I'm enjoying it more, yet finding it a little morose - like El Perro del Mar, but different.

Ezra Furman tickets were £8 for some of his gigs at some tiny UK venues for his current or recent tour. Bargain for a spectacle that is him live, even if you aren't 100% into the music.

My girlfriend loves his new album and it is her choice of CD for the car at the moment. I would imagine he would be good live.

He does a nice acoustic cover of I Can Change as well.

You can download the new a Wilco album Star Wars for free via their website. I haven't listened to it yet but reviews are very favourable pretty much across the board.

A few live session tracks from the hotly anticipated new Battles album here. Only 5 minutes in but sounding excellent.

EDIT: Yup. Anyone with any time for their previous work is going to love this. What a great band, Warp Records can pick 'em.

2 new albums that I can't recommend highly enough, I've had them on repeat all weekend.

Georgia - 'Georgia'. Young North London girl who incidentally played youth team footie for Arsenal and QPR before working at Rough Trade releases her solo album. Occasionally she sounds like MIA but a better comparison would be Grimes or Fever Ray or maybe Lorde, the album has a lot of depth, a lot of soul and she sounds likes she has a big future ahead of her.

Sweet Baboo - 'The Boombox Sessions'. North Welsh band who are good mates with Cate Le Bon, H Hawkline, Super Furries. This album is an absolute delight. It couldn't be any more charming if it tried. Very witty, perfectly crafted pop. I've described this album to friends as the album I wish Belle and Sebastian had made this year instead of their disco-driven effort. If you're a fan of B&S or the likes of The Wave Pictures then you will adore this album. Guaranteed.

No-ones mentioned the new Deerhunter LP out in October yet? And they're playing in a church soon after, with Atlas Sound?

Why are we here?

Also John Grant releases a new album on 2 Oct.' Grey tickles, black pressure ' looking forward to that.

Put it in the live thread as I haven't been blown away by a record of theirs since Microcastle but without doubt on of the best love outfits out there at the mo.

Atlas Sound shoud act as the cherry on the cake.

Halcyon was pretty special, but Monomania was a godawful move. 4AD have been fairly quick to suggest they're back to melodic beautiful ways.

For those who like some good old fashioned rock, Biters debut album Electric Blood is worth a listen. Bit reminiscent of The Wildhearts in places.
