Probably because he's seen it's near impossible to make the Real Madrid first team and doesn't want to make that mistake again. He could realistically make the Albion first team this season, and, if he does well, possibly the Scottish squad too.

Yep. Not overly convinced that a club of our stature needs to be scraping the barrel with Real Madrid's cast-offs. Am willing to proved wrong however.
Looks a good deal for us and the player, he needs to start pushing for a first team place to have a better chance of getting selected nationally. May sound a bit clichéd but reckon he might have to bulk up a fair bit to be a regular in this division, as we have seen with Tex and Lingard-great ball control and dribbling is one thing but switching from playing U21/youth games to the Championship is a tough transition initially.

Also been told he's too much of a "luxury player" for Scotland u-19's by Ricky Sbragia and then is sounded out by Spain about changing his alliances... think we've landed a player who will (in-time) bring a bit of FLAIR to the final third.
