After last season's shambles it would be good to see some early evidence that the club is taking things seriously and intends to put last year's mistakes right.

It would but so far we have the same old..... Waddington from Blackpool has signed for Stoke, Jed Wallace who scored 17 goals from midfield in a shit pompey team and who came from our own back yard in Lewes, has been snapped up by Wolves. El Bihan is staying in France, Enrich has loads of offers (which means we'll be somewhere at the bottom of a long list as we will be for the Finnish keeper who is also wanted by a load of clubs both in Holland and here.

5 targets and not one will end up here........ our only hope is to find someone nobody else wants, which invariably means they're shit or crocked. Give em the choice or Brighton or A N other and it aint gonna be us.
At least Poyet had that ability to persuade good players and sell a vision..... cant see dull as dishwater Hughton having that same dynamism.

I agree with all of that.

I think our best chance of signings are Zamora + any players who have already worked with Chris Hughton.

With no evidence, I think that we really need a Middlesbrough win vs Norwich on Monday. If Middlesbrough go up they will drop any interest in Enrich, and if Norwich stay down it will be easier to get Bassong off them.

I'm much more hopeful this summer. Burke's gone, I'm sure Hughton has his own ideas, we aren't being bombarded with statements from Barber's bunker every 5 minutes about FFP and the players that could go aren't angling to move like Buckley was last summer or have obvious Premier League ability like Ulloa. Dunk, Ince and March have potential but it's just that at the moment. I also think Bent's signing was a statement of intent albeit we couldn't keep him here. Similarly, It's way too early at the moment. Any half decent player will be seeing if more than 1 club is interested at this stage to drive up his potential wages.

That all said, Alarm bells will ring if we start getting statements about how hard everyone is working, how frustrating the process is, that we are focusing on this or that target and are prepared to wait. We've heard all that guff before and we know how that ends up.

As someone who moaned like hell last season I am happy to wait well into the summer but the moment I hear Barber talking about "unfair" "FFP" "parachute payments" "difficult" I'll start to worry.

Edit, I think Iggle Piggle has just put it better than me....

I can't argue with any of that but I really hope you are wide of the mark and the charm of Barber, Bloom and Hughton shines through and players are hypnotised by the vision and the stadium

All I'll say is that I'm only going to get concerned if we haven't started signing notable players in 4 weeks time. Waiting until August is too late (see last year) but by the same token, May is too early.

Hopefully as the saying goes; No news is good news. This time last year we didn't even have a manager to work on signings.

Exactly. Just because the rumour sites and papers aren't full of gossip about us doesn't mean that nothings happening. CH has had a few months to see where the squad needs improving and (I'd assume) has a long list of targets but until the transfer window opens theres no reason why any of this should be public knowledge.

I'm perfectly happy that we haven't started our transfer business by trawling through cast offs from the lower leagues

Yep, a lot of work will be going on behind the scenes, and all players will be on, or just about to go on holiday now anyway. Not a great time for interviewing so I'm lad for the silence personally.

Bamber went to Spain to sign Lauro.........................to make sure he got the player we wanted before some other club jumped in and that really did not go to well did it:)

I don't get this thread. The transfer window doesn't open until 1st July 2015 so why all the panic? At the moment players can only sign pre-contract terms.

In league two, even CMS would most likely manage double figures in the basement division.
