Oh well.

In the meantime he rest of us will just get on with our lives, support our families and treat our fellow citizens with respect and dignity.

* just a general comment. Nothing to do in any way with the post above by WQW.

It's a new memorial, unveilved in 2005 I think. The establishment took 60 years to recognise the role of women in the second world war.

I no expert on these things, but it cost a million pounds - most paid for by fundraising.

How can something like that cost so much - I'm intrigued. Does anyone know ?

Grants for example given to memorials are always high as the include the costs of maintenance, conservation, upkeep and repairs for many years into the future. There is a small army of people constantly cleaning, polishing and maintaining the nations memorials so they always look pristine against an atmosphere and pollution in a city that would have them looking filthy in no time at all.

And yes it took nearly 60 years to recognise their role via a monument,it took even longer to recognise the brave sterling work of all those in Bomber Command that lost their lives via a memorial.......your point is?

NSC seems to have a serious problem with generalising. "The left" is a broad spectrum.

While "the left" can include idealistic students, anarchist squatters and the rogue kind of scum bag that advocates violence or vandalises war memorials - greater in number are the academics or regular people who simply believe in a fairer society, where the most vulnerable are looked after and public services are kept as vital components of the wellbeing of all people.

Generalising and tarring "the left" with the same brush is as useful as claiming "the right" are all greedy, heartless or chauvinist. If society is to progress it is important that we have intelligent discussions about the disagreements between the left and right, rather than mindlessly picking teams and refusing to listen to the other side.

Of course this protest today does not represent the typical "leftie" - you can see from the pictures that it largely consists of students who presumably formed a flash mob through social media - however we should not let the actions of one or two idiots detract from the serious issues that affect us all. If you consider life from an U25's point of view, with astronomical tuition fees and no realistic chance of ever owning their own home, coupled with the thought of a privatised NHS, it is unsurprising that they are the first to hit the streets.[/QUOTyou
Usual apologist/sympathiser boxxocks from you

I agree and its has been mostly led by the prat that owns this site and he is still croaking on generalising about the left at every opportunity.
The boring Bozza who just because he runs an average football forum and thinks in his tiny mind that he is Mr Brighton and Hove Albion.
For the past few weeks he has used his forum to spout his boring crap whilst staying up all night to w**k himself into a stupor every time the Tories won another seat.
Thread after thread about the election with so many typical Brighton/Sussex/South East views from people who think they know everything but in fact know nothing.
I thought this was a football forum. I have just returned from the Plymouth play off match, a club I thought we had an association with, they did not play well and were 3-0 down. Very few left and the stadium rocked with support and was lit up by thousands of lights from mobiles, the team was lifted and scored twice.
The past couple of hours have been spent with happy and very funny true fans.
Not a mention on here about it as far as I can see but plenty of ridiculous posts from the clown Bozza and his cronies about the election and now a few students with a spray can.
Pathetic and childish behaviour from people who really should know better or maybe not.

Not particularly but I suppose it gives the Tory voters something to feel righteous about. The memorials they visit once a year and pretend to care while the Tory party tears apart everything the war was ACTUALLY fought for.

Vandalising war memorials? No, not good. Destroying everything these people fought for ? MUCH WORSE.

Quote "I suppose it gives the Tory voters something to feel righteous about".
Deary me, your logic or excuse, or blame is to put it mildly very poor. You blame the graffiti and the actions on a party that like it or not got more seats than another.
Do you really think that a monument to people that died roughly 70 years BEFORE this day, deserve to be targeted.

This quote takes the biscuit "Destroying everything these people fought for ? MUCH WORSE". So you obviously understand/realise WHAT these people fought for, but are not bothered that these scum are destroying the monument of people that "fought for".
Seriously twisted post, summing up that you really support these actions and justify the actions because of your hatred of the government.
Why do these cretins not vent their anger democratically, not take it out on the memory of the dead.

Really,
Obviously you must have missed the thread by the fella that lives in Germany, who "spouted" non stop for months about Labour, over 700 pages, plus the countless anti UKIP threads, which were endured for months.
Take a look over the countless pages. Yet you make snidey comments about a member who has the right to post his views like everybody else. In fact if you bothered to look at the amount of posts by the owner you would notice that there have not been that many.

But really you came on this forum for this didn't you.

A lot of intellects here, but not a lot of intelligence.

Any excuse to claim a political win.

What next? How many Labour MPs have sexually abused children in the last 50 years?

If it'd been a memorial stone for all the dinosaurs who used to live on England, it would have still had '**** tory scum' on it. I'm sure the memorial stone itself wasn't stemming the hatred.

I thought for a second you were posting images of the EDL defacing war memorials and who were also protesting and throwing their rattles out of the pram because the election didnt produce an anarchist socialist hate filled sheep following North Korea

At least their opponents turned up eh,The UAF with their thinly veiled attempt at pretending they are simply against fascism when in reality they are all the same groups that caused the trouble in Westminster and think nothing at all of spraying graffiti on a war memorial,(because lets tell the truth here, these morons hate anything to do with anything that can be slightly linked to patriotism or nationalism ) the same groups who will never in a million years protest against Islamic Fascism and squirm and hide like hypocrites when someone mentions Gender Separation ..............."dont talk about that comrades" say the feminists.

They are nothing more than political morons under the influence of twits like the SWP who are violent undemocratic, free speech hating bellends.

Here they are showing their true colours before the Saurday EDL gathering........nothing more than hate filled idiots.....and what sort of moron takes their children to these violent events and brainwashes them to go up on stage.Political grooming of children like this is vile

The vandals are opportunistic tossers who self justify their behaviour and should be dealt with accordingly. They are no more representative of 'lefties' than those who organise the March For England are representative of the 'righties'.

The people who did the acts aren't engaged in political debate, and if they didn't like the result then boo-hoo, get over it. To claim that it's any way connected to proportional representation is as ludicrous as the Albion's recruitment policy last summer.

The silence of some on the left when this happens hacks me off, just as it does when some Albion fans are involved in violence but blind eyes are turned by fellow fans because they're 'one of us'.

Violence against institutions or people isn't big or funny or justified, regardless of your political background..

I didn't like the election result, but so what, it's not about me.

Whilst defacing the war memorial was disgusting, and I think this protest was uncalled for. IMO it won't be long until there are much bigger protests. Whilst the Tories were voted in I feel that Labour lost a lot of votes because of the media and the Scottish voting SNP. Plus too many people have voted Tory because they only care about themselves. Now there is no way I will be able to get my own house until my late 20s at the earliest plus there will be little chance of me and a majority of people my age going to uni because of the cost, so whilst this protest was uncalled for I do think the UK electorate got it wrong and when the NHS becomes privatised all the people who aren't rich but voted Tory can only hope they don't need it

This is priceless, do you see the contradictions and not mention the rank arrogance in your post?

The bit where you say people only vote tory because they care about themselves, and then roll straight on to not getting your own house is brilliant.

Labour will be ****ed for ever if you represent their political future, neo socialists pissed off with tories because they can't get on the housing ladder.

You are more tory than many tories these days.........

If you look through the other threads as well, you are, of course, right and it would be silly to say otherwise, there has been a lot of heated comments over the past few weeks and its all got a bit stupid really. Which includes my post. I have made a few comments but generally steer away from politics/religion but my post was over the top.
Cannot believe I got caught up in it all and if I offended Bozza. who of course is entitled to his opinion then I apologise.

It's what these people do if they don't get their own way...they associate with the left, but not all the left are like that.
I wonder if these dregs of society went back through their family history they would find their Aunts,Grannies,Mothers or their menfolk who gave their lives so they can walk around destroying memorials till they get their next drug dose.

This is probably just the beginning, the inevitable civil unrest which will be exacerbated by the impending Tory cuts.

Both the left and right are feeling an utter failure of democracy right now. 7.5m UKIP, Green and Lib Dem voters all have every right to feel disgruntled - the 9 million Labour voters won't feel much better.

We have an interesting few years ahead of us.

We're all doomed Captain Mainwaring!

This and people lap up the establishment press feeding out the brain washing .

Incredible we have another 5 years of deepening cuts . How they got voted in is a shock . It must be purely down to the press protecting them and people believing what they read . Can only think the Scottish press is a bit more truthful and they've voted anti austerity .

Good on the protests . Know more than your average joe !

So democracy is only good when a left leaning government is elected ?

As for the animals that defaced the war memorial, I suggest they are taken to the nearest military barracks - they won't be so tough then will they !
