****ing shocking

cms 1 league goal

best 0

and our so called best striker ogrady 1 league goal..

a shocking season
In fairness though Best hasn't been with us all season. If he'd been with us from the start he'd probably have scored ........ yeah, I take your point.

CMS - Shit
Best - Shitter than shit
O'Grady - Average, never looks like scoring
Baldock - good, but badly injured. Will probably do a Stephens and somehow be injured until January next year

We NEED to splash on a striker in the summer. £3-5m at least. You get what you pay for most of the time and Bloom needs to realise this.
You could buy a striker for 10 mil and not be guaranteed goals....Its a lottery.

In the lower section of the league (struggling!!) is not the best place to be to attract half decent players.

I still don't think a front line of Suarez Messi & Ronaldo would score that many playing for the Albion.

There's been something fundamentally wrong with how the Albion have attacked the opposition, since we arrived at the AMEX.

Yep..
Players played out of position most weeks
One striker
Sometimes one winger

Pathetic

On a positive note - It amazes me that we're still where we are with a top scoring striker with only 3 goals.

Virtually any team with such ineffective strikers would have already been relegated by now.

Do we have the lowest scoring striker of a team that will (probably) stay up (more though due to the fact that there are 3 more worse sides than us this season)???

It seems our defenders have lost the knack of scoring too. Eleven corners today - you'd have thought Dunk or Halford might have got on the end of one of them.

Big shake up required in the summer. Not sure how many players will survive the cull, Kayal possibly, Ince, Caskey and Dunk for their sale potential....the rest.......?

This. O'Grady, Baldock and CMS all work best in a two up top scenario but as we don't play two up top it's not exactly surprising they aren't prolific. The lack of quality in our build up play doesn't help either. Today our ball retention and passing game was shocking. Not sure how the strikers can really be blamed for that.

And when we have "played" two up top it's always been Best & CMS, so effectively just CMS up top.

You're spot on.

It's hard to believe there's worse teams than us in the league.

Bloom has got open the cheque book.

I believe we need at least 10 new players

Or you could refuse to pay more than 500k, I know which I think would be more likely to produce the goods.

I think Bloom is blaming the recruitment system he put in place, hence the sacking of Burke as we apparently pay the same as other top teams (cough). Let's see what happens this summer. I won't be holding my breath as I imagine we'll be more concentrated on who is saleable rather than who to bring in. Will we wait until two weeks into the season to make our move again?

4 seasons at The Amex & we have had ONE decent forward - Truly pathetic.
I think we've had the strikers, they just haven't played in teams always looking to win.

The Albion's desire to not lose has strangled any creative wins.

Watford have lost 11 games this season.
Pre Hypia I doubt we'd lost that many in 3 seasons, yet we're still in the Championship (for now), and Wetfart could well be promoted.

definitely the service and the finishing
overall the quality in the final third at the Amex has been poor
despite the strengths of Kayal Stevens and Ince
cannot see them contributing too many goals and assists
so we need both creativity and finishing
full backs have been the best crossers of the ball

We bought baldock, bournemouth bought wilson simular league 1 players. Now look at the difference. We cant just blame strikers, its the way we play were just far too negative. If baldock had been at bournemouth this season he'd have 20 plus goals (barring any injury)

Given how none of our strikers seem to score and bearing in mind that O'Grady scored 15 in this division last season, Baldock scored 25 in League 1 last season and CMS used to score loads in League 1 is it our strikers or is it a lack of service?

Both. We don't play to peoples strengths. Just can't believe Best, could have put himself in demand with clubs at the end of the season - just couldn't be asked. I'm not sure when his contract is up but he can't have much of a future at Blackburn. Send him back and give some young lad a go for 5 games, can't do any worse.

Squad has always been too good to go down, regardless of appalling strikers. I'd imagine there was no investment in a decent striker (e.g. Wood/Jones) on loan due to the fact that we could stay up without one. Would like to keep O'Grady and Baldock but CMS is so poor it is beyond belief, really doubt whether he could cut it in L2 these days, and the less said about Best the better. Also quite worrying that there is nothing in DS good enough to make the bench at least. Oh well, I think it's a given that we'll sign at least two OK strikers in summer, maybe even a good one, probably won't be enough to challenge for anything though.

Until we start playing a system that is positive and our philosophy changes from not wanting to lose to wanting to win we ain't going nowhere.Need real pace and intent when attacking and players in the box would help...Don't think hughton is that type of manager though and expect the boring negative football again next season.
