The price tag on COG

I would remove the price tag, sort him out with a good school for his kids and a support network for his partner and tell him that we want him to stay.

In the position we are in, to sell a player that we have been crying out for all season would be rather silly. No, he may not be the best we could hope for, but he is a proper professional, in form and we now know what he can do and what his strengths are.

Despite all the prejudiced comments from the usual suspects on here I think he is our best striker on the books currently and would be disappointed to see him go. Watch the build up to the 3rd goal, that classy flick round the corner before Tex was picked out is something CMS could only dream of.

For some people that will be the first time they've seen COG play like that, those of us lucky enough to see him play away under Hughton will know this is what he's all about. I can understand the scepticism but he genuinely looks to be a good target man.

He has been great since he came on at Fulham. The man cant leave him and best until the end of the season. Him and Tex linker up brilliantly.

We'd be mad to let him go unless we have someone else equally strong lined up. Target men are not easy to come by as we've proved for several years.

loved watching him play tonight, it helped the team out so much by holding up the ball and actually being able to keep the ball without it coming straight back to us. what a player, has been great now for a while. would hate it if he left.

Spot on. His first touch is excellent. He reads the game well and his distribution is pinpoint. We have to keep him.

Genuine question, is this the first time you've seen him playing for CH/NJ? I agree £2m is a bit far fetched but we should be cautious not to discard him too cheaply.

That is a fair point.

I wish The Cog well, I just can't see it.

I'd love this thread to be bounced after he's done well.

Let's be honest and face facts, he is no replacement for whom we've let go, and yet we're still charging top dollar.

The only good thing that may come out of this new 'twirly scarves and COG love in' is that someone with the clout within the club may well tell CMS to bugger off.

Would be sad and disappointed if he left, knowing that seemingly how he was treated by our previous manager has added to it.

His interview previously was heartfelt and honest, I hope he realises that he has a future here but if his family have moved back, he has to put them first.

I cannot believe we might lose the player we have needed and all because he wasn't given a chance. It really is a sad situation.

Really? Why does he have to go. He signed a three (?) year contract in the summer. He's ours.
As another poster says, we need to work on him, his partner, and so on. And quickly.

COG and Tex, compared with CMS and JFC...........leagues apart. Club have to do everything in their power to keep him. Thought Best looked OK too for the few mins he was on - similar to COG, decent first touch and seems to have a brain. Could be a handful.

COGs role model is obviously Heskey good last night up until he had a scoring opportunity then too slow in thinking and poor technique never looked like scoring. Looks like we need 2 players to replace Ulloa the target man and the goal scorer

COG was fantastic last night, will be upset to see him go as think he offers alot to the side. When he came on at Charlton he looked brilliant too.
