Was at the game tonight.

Arguably press conference of the season from Pompey boss Andy Awford, who after saying it was the angriest he had ever been was asked if after the humbling he would be going into the loan market. "Yes." When? "Tomorrow." Any particular positions? "1 to 11."

He also accused the players of living too comfortable an existence with "three physios on hand to give them massages whenever they want, no other club at this level has that, and it's all going to stop."

Awford is oddly likeable for someone who is managing portsmouth.

Awford is oddly likeable for someone who is managing portsmouth.

With the growing number of pathetic clubs who don't put any players up after a disappointing defeat (not the case at Brighton, I might add) it is to Awford's credit that he fronted up everyone last night, TV, radio, written local and national press.

And though he should, that is not easy, it was an awful performance and awful night for Pompey, he is now under real pressure, and he has a lot of poor players who until yesterday he has defended to the hilt, but something snapped last night. And credit to him for doing it, you could see he was barely able to control the anger at the way his team had collapsed in the second half. Aldershot weren't great either, which made it worse. He even apologised to the press for keeping them waiting after lambasting the team in the dressing room!

It is one of those classic cases of a genuine club stalwart and legend as a player, giving management a go and ending up with the fans on his back. Just shows what a dangerous and risky game that is, managing where you were a hero as a player.

Thought it might go that way with him. They were utterly dismal and in real danger of dropping into non-league last season, when they fired Richie Barker (shame) and gave Awford the job temporarily. He, almost inevitably, wins a few games on the back of simply not being Richie Barker, and they feel obliged to give him the job permanently. They were instilled as pre-season title favourites by bookies- and themselves- and are once again flopping after a good start.

Marvellous

I like this post...

Pompey are getting gates 3,4,5 times more than pretty much most of the other sides in the division and on that basis should have the biggest budget now past debts have been cleared. I'd like to see the club make the most of this financial muscle because interest will inevitably dwindle if they get stuck in this league for too long.

Yeah. Throw money at the problem. That's the answer. What could possibly go wrong?

That's nice considering we are losing 250k per week at the Albion, but i suppose when things are not going well its always nice to look down on someone else struggling???

Hell yeah. Makes me feel glad to be alive.

Are we losing money, by the way? Why haven't you mentioned this before? Next thing, you'll be telling us crowds are falling and people leave early.

If only the debts had been cleared.
Starting again with the vast majority written off is not entirely the same thing.

As it stands they are already throwing a fair bit of money at it - they are up there among the highest payers already.

A nice quiet evening ,Pompey put in a Pub opposite us .Funny as everyone was told all Pubs would be closed.5 of us went to leave the Pub to be told we could leave 1 at a time after being frisked for bottles, glasses, and weapons, funny the Pub was only selling plastic.Got marched to the ground with The Aldershot Yoof:ffsparr::ffsparr:The streets were full of OB ,Dogs ,Horses and even MP's from The Army .A little bit of handbags after where one of Aldershot's main faces was told to Feck off by The OB using his name.A knock on his door to follow no doubt.

I know! Shurely shome mistake. Can't have been them booing the players off in that highlights video either, as the Greatest Fans In The World would not do that. Must have been infiltrated by Saints?
