A while ago, I was told that my BMW has a flywheel problem. Remarkably it was just a few months out of warrant. I had only done 40k miles. Chandlers said it would need replacing, but it's actually a dual flywheel..oh and also Sir, we have to replace a perfectly working clutch...£1,800 BOOM! BMW knew there is an issue with series 1 and flywheels but wouldn't contribute to its repair...feckers!

Will your insurance cover that, out of interest?
Was it damaged when it was stolen or did you get it back more or less as you left it?

£140 on a new tyre as the wife didn't understand that with low profile tyres you can't 'bounce it up the kerb like i do with mine'

Don't think we claimed, a tree had fallen on it at a meet and greet companies 'car park' at LGW previous summer so insurance was already sky high!
Car was in perfect condition, it had been taken as part of a targeted burglary (in house for 13 seconds) and in Portslade, to check for a tracker or something....

Yeah, tends to happen with higher value cars that get taken in burglaries. They steal the car with the keys, and then leave it parked somewhere relatively close by for a couple of days, just to see if it's got a tracker fitted.
If not, a quick change of plates & it'll be off and used in burglaries & ram raids before you can say "Hey, that looks a lot like my car".

another car one. i own a taxi firm so I spend loads on fuel , licences tyres etc.. however , I have another car , an sti impreza. I very rarely drive it , maybe 1000 miles a year so like to look after it. Time for Mot and was told that all four tyres had loads of tread but had perished . I was then also told that the front discs had cracked and so had the inner housing for one of the headlights. The cost for all those parts..... £1100 without labour !!! that's more than ive put in it petrol in the year. luckily my mate is a mechanic so labour was minimal

I've luckily had a company car for about 12 years, and my last (owned) car was a little Volvo 440. Last time I remeber paying for tyres, they cost £40 each.
My newest company car is on a different lease to the previous ones, and we now have to pay for the tyres (and claim it back mercifully).
Two tyres. Plus re-alignment. FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS. Wtf?

Haha, yep that about sums it up. Unfortunately for them, a number of things stacked against them.
A) Someone had tried a couple of months earlier while I was in, I had freaked out and installed alarm and cameras, they hadn't been very careful with hiding they're appearance.
B) One of them had a Crimewatch appearance earlier in the year
As far as I know, he's serving a long time now....

Haha, good. I wonder which local herbert it was. Almost certainly one I'll know. Let's hope they keep him locked up there for a good while (it's never enough though).
