I fully expect all clubs to have complied with FFP after their accountants have worked their magic.

As far as I'm concerned, so long as a club pays their footballing and tax debts, I don't see that there is a problem. If an owner wants to spunk £10 or £20 million of their own money or even money they have borrowed from someone stupid enough to lend it to them then that is their own business.

Fines only apply to promoted clubs, other clubs that break the rules will be subject to transfer embargoes until the accounts comply with the rules.

HOWEVER, as the likes of QPR are not members of the Football League, it could be argued that they do not have to pay the fines until they are once again within the 72.

Next August then!

True, but the Premier League have approved the rules. That's why fines go to charity instead of being split among the clubs in the same division, as was originally proposed.

QPR were not part of the FL when the rules were introduced.

True, but surely they would have to agree to it to be allowed to compete in the FL?

If the way Barcelona has been treated by FIFA over the transfer embargo imposed on them is anything to go by then I can't see any transfer embargoes imposed by the League having much affect.

Didn't stop them from splashing out £75M on Suarez.

But surely they have to agree to and sign up when they are part of the FL?it should be a condition of participation?if they didn't agree then expulsion from the league should follow. The FL would only have to do it once then they would all fall into line.

There will be no fines, just a fudge and failure.

FFP will be a footnote in history this time next year.

That's all very well but it's unsustainable, short-termist and doesn't take into account the impact on clubs without such funds. E.g. from ever-escalating player wages. It would also lead to more people on here demanding Bloom spends more and more of his money. FFP is good for everyone.

The only reason the embargo isn't being enforced is because Barcelona appealed and the embargo has been lifted whilst the appeal is underway.

So come December and the Championship clubs submit their accounts I wonder how many clubs that have been slapped with a transfer embargo will appeal ???

I personally think all the clubs still in the division who will announce losses of more than £8M for the 2013/14 season will appeal and take collective legal action to challenge FFP.

But will they be hit with a transfer embargo whilst the court action is going on?

The status quo ante would be maintained if it goes to appeal and/or legal action.

And whilst still complying with FFP this year the club hasn't spunked silly money on mediocre players that rack up hideous debts. It seems as though we've learned from the mistakes of the late 70s and 80s.

Indeed we're on a journey, Rome wasn't built in a day but we will get there....

But they signed up to the competitions rules when they joined the league. Whether they voted for them or not is a moot point.

Their lawyers advised them that the rules were potentially unenforceable a year ago, so they gambled on spending silly money and going back up.

Is it any less sustainable than having an owner spend a fortune on a new ground and training ground? Money he will only (possibly) get back if Brighton are in the Premier League for many seasons.

Stadiums and training grounds tend to stick around for several decades and remain as tangible assets. Players don't.

Not sure of the relevance of your comment on BHAFC being in the Premier League (or not) as the football club doesn't own either the Amex Stadium or the training ground at Lancing - they're both rented. Of course one, or both, could be sold (they're assets after all) and the proceeds distributed to the shareholders, whilst the football club continues to use the facilities.
