Be surprised if we can realistically sign anyone who will be an improvement on Dunk. That's not being negative, he's just really impressed me in the latter half of this season.

Yes good call, but he does lack pace and his probably a better replacement for Upson longer term.

Really? Didn't know that. Bit of a shame - as I don't see us breaking our wage structure any time soon.....

Were we in the Championship at the time?

If Birmingham go down I would like us to sign Chris Burke. Gilks from Blackpool to replace Kuszcz. Decent CB to partner Upson (who we should give another year to). If we can afford Ward we should go for him as well.

With luck Crofts may be back for pre-season.

Just need a decent forward, perhaps two if we cash in on Ulloa......
Why would we want to cash in on Ulloa ?would cost a fortune to replace.

Not necessarily. Who's to say our European scouts don't have their eyes on another similar player at a similar price.

Go along with that. We'll be alright with Greer, Upson and Dunk as CBs next season, if Greer's happy with being third string...

I was talking with a Sunderland STH of many years standing earlier this week. He didn't know I followed Brighton.

His view on Poyet was that he hoped he'd stay.
His view on Bridcutt is that he is lightweight, ineffective, the pace of the game passes him by and he is way short of Premier League quality.

As much as I'm a fan of him when he's fit, Poyet can have Buckley for a sensible fee. He's just too fragile, and whilst some injuries are inevitable(Crofts) a team needs it's best players to be strong and remain fit.
If the PIG wants to play in the Prem, then he can go as well. He's a great shot stopper, but his distribution and confidence in coming for crosses is questionable. I don't think he'll be more than a squad player for a PL side, but we will need to replace him as what we currently have in reserve is currently not good enough either

Great summary and completely mirrors my feelings on both players. A lot of unnecessary bed wetting going on about Kuscak. For what it's worth I think he'll stay anyway and there is a lot of chat in the media from him to force our hand on his salary demands.

The Vito Mannone who is their player of the season ? ALL keepers make mistakes - Mannone is pretty good and I cant see him leaving. I also dont think Kooshack is better than him, or in fact better than what they already have.

IMO, Mannone is in the top six premier keepers. I'll be amazed if Gus dumps him. That said, Gus amazes me in all sorts of ways all the time..... 'orrible man. Interesting though that Sunderland have been playing much better since Liam hasn't played. He was also getting some flack before that on Sunderland Forum.

Just watching the Sunderland game and they said liam bridcutt had been missing the last 3 games due to personal issues ..wonder if he's struggling

Anyone who'd been living in beautiful Sussex would have personal issues after moving to Sunderland. I guess he's always got his big fat Premier League salary to soften the blow.
