Well if the mail reports are true (the mail is packed full of twisted lies but their sports reporting is pretty good), then Oscar has NOT been involved in the transfer dealings. So the blame for the farcical Grabban/Conway screw up and the selling Barnes with useless loan replacements, comes down to Burke, and Barber indirectly as his FFP ramblings have held our purse strings tighter.
I don't blame him if he goes. But if he does, after losing Gus and then Oscar, what is that saying about BHAFC?
Not good if he goes, then again it's worse than that because we won't be attracting a decent manager as it will soon get around that Brighton are tight with their money and a manager can't control transfers.

I've said on a number of other threads that Burke is not doing a good job and the majority on here shut me down and basically said I was wrong!

It is clear as day to me that Burke and his team are out of their depth and are not helping our manager(s) at all. All this about Oscar having the final say is total nonsense as there is no way he would have picked someone like Obika who couldn't possibly play the 'Garcia' way.

I think it's time that TB realises that this 'continental style' set up is not working and we get a Manager not head coach who has full say in all transfer targets and maybe even sits in on wage negotiations etc (hopefully that is Oscar) as it is clear that we are not targeting the right players AND we are trying to pay less wages than anyone else because Burke believes FFP will force players to lower wage demands, well that simply ain't happening, Conway being a prime example of one that got away.

Something I haven't seen mentioned (although that doesn't mean it hasn't) is that quitting Brighton would mean Oscar would have left two jobs in two years having spent a single season at both clubs. Surely not a good career move, one would have thought.

If Oscar decides to go - which would be a shame - I would like Sherwood. Passionate, attacking, and appears to rally the troops.

And has masterminded some great performances for Spurs this season, particularly against Liverpool and Man City.

Whilst it doesn't detail OG's willingness or otherwise to go to Swansea it does say, "Swansea have already made contact with Garcia, who is in his first season in English football."

IF this is the case then presumably TB will have given Swansea permission to do so. ???

Are you talking about the Independent story from February 6th?

I saw Oscar with his family this afternoon. We shared a cordial exchange and a handshake. He did not enlighten me on the story in the tabloids. He looked very jolly but I assume that was because of last night rather than any info about a move elsewhere.
Whether he does leave in the summer or not (and i think he won't), he'd be a fool not to commit to us entirely for the rest of the season as promotion looks excellent on a cv...or else you end up somewhere shithouse like Sunderland.

Yes I agree with most if that. However, we have been led to believe that Oscar has a hand in transfers. Burke on Seagulls player and Barber in many interviews has stated that Oscar asks for a type of player and then Burke tries to find a list of those and then Oscar gets the say on who is signed.
As I said, 'IF' the mail reports are true then this is simply not the case.

And he gets a pretty average list to choose from which are not better then we already have. It's not just Oscar who is unhappy current 1st team players are also included. A bad egg in the club seems to be upsetting a fair few

Not at all.

Actually, I'm saying what a lot of people now seem to agree with!

Thanks for your valuable input though! not...

Sorry; your assertions were so imbecilic I naturally gave you the benefit of the doubt. You live and learn.

Well you'd hope so but doesn't there tend to be, rightly or wrongly, a lower standard for sports news? It's not as if there's ever any professional comeback if this kind of gossip goes nowhere.

Not where I work there certainly isn't. Speculation regarding sport news such as this or transfers is left alone and not broadcast unless it's confirmed by the club in public. Can leave you open to damaging links with said club if you rely on them for content. Other areas of radio such as presenters/specific sport show can speculate if they want to, but news bulletins should be based on pure fact, which this certainly isn't right now.
